LCC operated many miles of conduit tramways. I am aware of the plough operation, how the plough was held in a carrier beneath the car and was shot out at the change-pits but what is not clear is how the power got from the plough to the controllers on the cars. There were live rails beneath the slot in the road, which made contact with 2 sprung contacts on the bottom of the plough and I have inspected that on display in Cov Gdn Museum. There must have been contacts under the car which made contact with the plough, bearing in mind it moved from side to side. Any further details welcome.

If I can answer my own question, there were 2 projecting terminals on the plough which bore against 2 sprung bus bars fitted to the underside of the tram. Insulated leads ran from the bus bars to the controllers etc on the car. Some cars had ploughs attached directly to one truck.
