Just spent two weeks in India, my first ever visit.
Mumbai (Bombay): Ashok Leyland single and double-deckers. Roving conductors (2 on d/decks). Many buses very dilapidated. Two main electrified railways into city -Churchgate (suburban) with emus and Victoria (old name) for main line.
Kolkata (Calcutta): very run-down tramway system - track atrocious condition. Buses seem packed out.
Narrow gauge railways: Matheran line from Neral Jcn (SE of Mumbai) - steam and diesel but upper section closed due to monsoon damage; Niligiri line to Ootacamund (Ooty) in the south (abt rack in part with steam and diesel); Darjeeling Himalayan - indescribable - a fantastic ride which goes on for ever - Sharp Stewart 0-4-0STs and diesels; Kolka - Shimla line north of Delhi (diesel with steam specials); Delhi Metro (very swish - 3 lines, Japanese rolling stock) and Delhi National Transport Museum with steam-powered monorail etc etc.

Wow, that sounds interesting, although i don't think many people would complain about TfL if they went out there ;D
Sounds a much better rail infrastructure though!!!!!!!

Wow, that sounds interesting, although i don't think many people would complain about TfL if they went out there ;D They'd get rid of the conductors, wouldn't they? I bet they'd hate it as much as we hate the demise of the Routemaster ;D
