That's the deadline for completion of the work in the PPP contracts.
Currently they are overhauling the escalators but it is a huge station complex so it will take time.

The escalator work should be completed by August 2009. If you travl on the Underground you'll be able to hear the stupid announcements about every 2 minutes saying that there's no interchange service at Bank.
Bank's served by the Central, Circle, Waterloo & City, Hammersmith & City and the Northern lines isn't it?? Would explain why it's going to take so long to complete the work

Would explain why it's going to take so long to complete the work Almost, it's the District Line that serves Bank (not the Hammersmith & City) as well as the DLR, and even then the Circle/District platforms are known as 'Monument' station rather than Bank.
