I've heard that the MCW Metrobuses at TWM are leaving around 2010-11. I may have an idea on what will replace them, though I'm not certain.
Travel London Y reg Tridents-they are very similar in terms or gearbox and engine and would fit perfectly with TWM Tridents as the only difference would be that TWM Tridents are longer.
Arriva DAF ALX400s-Some people regard them as the LF replacement of the Metrobus. Also, they have the same gearbox and sound very similar. However, they would normally go to other Arriva areas.

I think you forget this. Some of the V reg Tridents went up. And were not liked at all! No order on double decks have been made even though 100 E400's have gone to Perry Barr. I think they are doing the same as Metroline. Order E400 and Scania to balance the books. To the last reply. Of course living the past let's run Metros for the next 20 years. Your living in the past. For a large company with a lot of old Metros it's quite disguisting and no surprise of NatEx. I am fan of a Metro but seeing as large groups like Go Ahead and Stagecoach putting investment. It's a poor show from NatEx.

Now I know that London isn't the only subsidary where the firm tries to keep older buses on contract renewals rather than purchasing (or leasing) new ones.

Either that, or Nat Ex will just purchase more E400Tridents ;D They have ordered 60 E400's for Central. Also some more Scania single deckers as well. As usual with NatEx casual as ever. As with some London cascades the V reg (as mentioned) are rotten. If you do visit Birmingham for a Sunday it is rareish to see Metros. Should anyone want to see these it's worth checking out Yardley Wood (YW) and Acocks Green (AG) as these are the likely to go first. I heard the last garage to have them (note rumour) is Wolves. Then again I thought Walsall is a dumping ground for crap.

Have to admit, the last time i was in Birmingham there wasn't a single Metro around, and this was a Saturday night in the city centre and that was in November last year.

With the amount of spares for a Sunday it's no wonder and no excuse to have the low floor gear out.

I don't know why you would have a problem with the Metrobus, much rather have it then a expensive, emmission controlled, ugly duckling of a bus such as Optare Olympus or even the e200s. Why do you think they survived for all them years in London, about 23 years, when LF buses such as the V reg tridents barely make 10 years before being ousted. Oh and by the way, there is nothing wrong with them V reg tridents. I don't know how they can be rotten.

Young man. I think you forget the reality that this major player has a very old fleet and yet with the amount of money they make the other big players do not have vehicles of this age still running in the cities they operate. I have no problems with the Metrobus, I am being realistic. Metros being emmission controlled? These are not even Euro 3! They have only survived in London because they were ousted out due to low floor. Let me guess you live in the past and expect them to run for another 20 years. Please. Smell the coffee, this big player in the UK Market has a dominence as a major player and still running all this old gear. V reg tridents? You must be joking. You obviously are not a regular commuter of these.
Perhaps you may want to rely on the facts I put on this group rather than your petty comments.
Low Floor vehicles are here to comply I find it remarkable such likes National Express West Midlands and Arriva for the latter have a hell of a lot of non-low floor vehicles compared to First, Go Ahead and Stagecoach...

I've been on many V reg Tridents, loads of times since Connex brought them on the 3 so me not being a regular user of them is rubbish. Who said anything about Metro's being emmission controlled. If you take care reading my above opinion, which isn't petty, then you would know I was referring to the buses coming out now. Everyone has the right to an opinion. I never attacked you so why do it to me. I accept your opinion but not your attitude.

You seem to remember you are a passenger and not a driver or mechanic. I was informed by my West Midlands sources of their dislike. They were earmarked for Yardley Wood route 18 but never actually did a service (they only did the odd private hire and rail replacement).
Your comments indicated you know the West Midland scene, you may do but consider this. Nat Ex the main operator, who have a monopoly over one of Britain's biggest Cities (minus London), and you would expect a decent youngish fleet. Have we seen this? It's pretty poor. Comparing to London, Edinburgh and Manchester.
