I have looked into this matter but cannot seem to find an answer myself so i'll pose the question to you.
Does anyone know how high a low height Enviro 400 is?
Thanks for you help in advance.
Cheers

I would hazard a guess of something around 4200mm.

I think they are 14 ft 2 as the normal ones are 14 ft 5.

A lowheight Trident/ALX400 is 13'9 as those in Oxford certainly are as any higher and they wouldn't get under the infamous 13'6 bridge at the rail station!
Stagecoach Oxford now has a batch of E400 bodied Scanias, built to low height profile. In order to test they would clear the bridge, Oxford hired a Trident/E400 from Swindon and drove it under the bridge. It successfully cleared it.
So if the AlX400 low-height body is 13'9 I guess the E400 is teh same, otherwise they wouldn't get under said bridge.

Oh right, the thing is though if the buses are 13 ft 9 and the bridge is 13 ft 6 how the hell does that work out lol.

The bridge is officially signed as 13'6 but in reality is about 14'1. Therefore 13'9 high buses can go the rail bridge albeit at a slow speed as there is not a lot of room between the bus roof and the bridge! Indeed there is evidence of white/blue paint on the bridge edge where buses have scraped the roof against the bridge paraphet!

Oh it makes sense now, I was thinking no way can something that is 13 ft 9 fit under a bridge that is 13 ft 6.

There are to do with the forced air con system, that is also why they have that huge box inside the bus above the staircase.

It would be down to operator specifications.

Your welcome greeny . vjaska as NCT said it is down to operator specifications but it does seem now that all new e400s since about 07 reg are being specified with them. On another note I have been on alot of enviros that have them and not yet have I had the experience of it being on, I have had many expericences of them being on on the SELs on the 7 though, It reminded me of being on a coach with the cool air blowing on your face.

Oh btw NCT, I have never been nottingham but my aunty and cousins have and they tell me that some buses in nottingham have the bells on the ceiling of the bus, now surely that is a load of bull.
