There is probably not going to be 16 as its 13 . In addition the 358 is 4 years into the contract and has 3 Scanias which have replaced the MECs. I was told there was 3 for the 358 in addition to the 227 batch but guess that’s not happening - never mind, I like the Scanias anyway lol. Potentially a 3 bus top order was not confirmed at time the 13 advised Doesn't mean wont happen, info has a delay, if happening could be advised in few weeks

Keeping the Scanias would make sense if a new contract is due to commence in 2020. If Go-Ahead are fortunate enough to get a two-year extension I am sure they will find a solution.

Why ruin a route with s**tlites! My sentiments exactly. The worst single deck buses ever made, absolute total heaps of scrap. 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮 It just rubs salt in the wound even more with the predecessors being so brilliant. As I’ve said before no route has ever had a worse downgrade than that, I genuinely can’t think of one that even comes close to rivalling it. I know obviously there are people who don’t hate StreetSh**es as strongly as me (and probably you too) but no single decker can rival the Citaro. I just hope they don’t have the absolute lack of power that some have, which I fear they will as they’re bigger buses. Ugh honestly this change makes me sick. They suit the 228 perfectly, absolutely wretched awful route with the buses to match, the 227 is far too good for them. Rant over

Rant over Although I’m not the biggest fan of Streetlites, I personally am not surprised they’ve been ordered. You have to look at it from an operator’s perspective. - The Streetlite is already a bus that’s very common in Go-Ahead’s diesel single deck fleet, which means there is already a lot of familiarity with the bus. -The Streetlite is also a rather affordable bus, which keeps costings down. I’ve heard that it is rather costly to operate a heavyweight single deck bus such as a Citaro, despite it being a favourite for enthusiasts. Plus as long as the Streetlite meets the capacity requirements specified in the contract, it shouldn’t be an issue for space (not that there’s much space on most single decks anyway) - Regular passengers won’t particularly care whether it’s a downgrade or not. As long as the bus takes them where they need to go, it’s no issue to them. -Although Streetlites aren’t the best with power, they can be rather decent. The 410s examples climb Anerley Hill a lot better than it’s allocated E200 counterparts. Either way, from an enthusiast’s standpoint, I definitely see how it can be a disappointment, I also was hoping for something a little less predictable, but I wouldn’t get too worked up about it. A bus is better than no bus, after all

They suit the 228 perfectly, absolutely wretched awful route with the buses to match, the 227 is far too good for them. Rant over The ones that have a lack of power are Cummins examples of which none have have been for London operators for a few years now - all the more recent ones are Daimler ones such as the ones rhys mentioned on the 410 & 450 - both routes have steep hills and the SLS's Arriva have perform fine up these hills (in the 450's case, better than the 51 reg MPD's it used to have a while back and in the 410's case, better than the DWS's it used to have, a bus I liked very much). Lighter, cheaper buses like these are popular due to their good fuel consumption when compared to a Citaro which are heavy thirsty buses - I'd rather Citaros on the 227 myself not just for enthusiast reasons but because there overall capacity is larger than a Streetlite. It was always looking likely to be Streetlites as Go-Ahead London seem to be standardising their orders to just WS's for single decker diesel routes and SEe's to electric single decker routes with EH's for the double deck fleet - the days of Citaros, Scanias and other heavy single deckers being ordered are long gone sadly. As for worst single deckers ever made, I suggest you read up on some of the single deckers built many years ago and ones in other countries first - the Streetlite isn't the greatest thing ever but it's not the worse.

Considering MB, like other garages, tend to mix their allocations, the 358's Citaros may stray on the 227 anyway (if they get re-blinded).

Not necessarily; if there is already a good number of spares for other routes then only one more spare for the 208 may be deemed necessary.

Quick question because I can’t think of any
Have any new buses entered service on TfL routes in 2019 yet
There are some being delivered, but not yet in service.
If January had no new buses, when was last time there was a month without any new buses

If January had no new buses, when was last time there was a month without any new buses Tower Transit had all of their 5 Streetlites delivered and entered service throughout January with 4 of them are part of the 228's new contract and additional one shorter 9.7m Streetlite as top up for the 339
