were are the depots on this line? Morden, East Finchley, Golders Green & Edgware. how many trains are needed? 84, at peak times. were can drivers do a turn? As in when late running? - I'll pass on that one, as my knowledge of the Northern line isn't that good! can a train transfer to another line? Trains can transfer to the Piccadilly line via a special section of track in the Kings Cross area - as far as I know, there is no bar to 95 stock going anywhere on the LU network..........though the Waterloo & City is self contained and, the Central/Victoria lines use ATO & ATP (automatic operation, which the 95 stock is not capable of). The 95 would therefore only get on the Central/Victoria lines under an engineering possession.

The other turning points are Colindale, Golders Green, Hampstead, Totteridge & Whetstone (very rare), Finchley Central, East Finchley, Archway, Mornington Crescent (I think this one's very rare too), Leicester Square, Euston (Bank branch) and Moorgate. Some of these may or may not be correct but I have checked these by looking at the Northern Line detailed track map (which shows all the sidings in which trains turn).

At Kennington the two Bank branch tracks run through the middle of the station and there is siding to the south to allow trains from the north to be turned around. The Charing Cross branch platforms though are on the outside of the Bank ones, and although they can access the siding, there is also a loop between them.
This is why Morden trains now mostly run via Bank while Charing Cross ones terminate there, as it is quicker and easier to turn them around and the two lines are effectively segregated so no need for switching the points.

Quick question myself about the Northern Line's rolling stock. From the outside, they look identical to that of the Jubilee Line's stock. Are they the same or do they just have similar "bodywork" as in the case of the 313's and 315's

The difference between the two stocks is essentially the traction package. The Jubilee stock (1996) tube stock (which is actually older) has an older system than the 1995 tube stock on the Northern Line. The 1996 tube stock has a similar traction package to the Networkers 365/465 trains on NR.

Have to say though, the Central, Jubilee and Northern Line's stock do not look as old as they actually are!

were did you get the track map from?there has been a northern train on the piccadily line I bought the track map for £1.50 (I think) at the Ian Allan bookshop down Waterloo. As for the Northern trains on the Piccadilly, no this has never happened, and 1995 stock has never worked on the Piccadilly in service (it is not technologically possible at the moment) because the trains on both lines use different traction systems. Unless you are talking about the really old trains (1959 stock) which used to be on the Northern Line up until 2000. These started off on the Piccadilly line and worked a number of lines afterwards, then their final allocation was the Northern line from somepoint in the 80's. I remember those old trains from the times I used to travel to my gran's - I'd get one of them from Edgware down to Elephant & Castle. Happy days Thank you very much. Have to say though, the Central, Jubilee and Northern Line's stock do not look as old as they actually are! Central? You must be joking John - the Central line trains are literally falling apart; the cabs have to be held in place with gaffer tape

Lol, shows how much looks can be decieving. I mean, take the District Line for example. Amazing how a lick of paint can make something look 40 years younger ;D

It was an exaggeration lol Anyway, i know the District is due new rolling stock within the next year or so. The current refurbs were literally just to make the trains look better, though i always liked their 80's LT seats like what they had on the Titans and Metro's lol

Really?? I remember them having that moquette into the 21st Century. Though i have to say, the refurbs they've had do not suit the class one little bit lol. Bring on the new stock
