what happened to the the trains on this line? is there any links to other lines ? what work has been done far? Just south of Whitechapel Stn, is the 'St Marys curve' this was the link to the main District Line. The original St Marys Stn was blitzed in the war, never to be re-built.

what happened to the the trains on this line? The trains were A stock, supplied by the Metropolitan line - they went back to where they came from. If you're lucky, you may well still find trains running on the Met with the East London line stickers still in place..........certainly the Chesham shuttle did a few weeks back when I went on it is there any links to other lines ? As mentioned, there is St Marys curve, however that has now been physically blocked off by a steel wall and the rails have been cut - I believe the plan on the District side of the wall is remove the points and plain line the track. When it re-opens as the East London Railway, there will be connections to Network rail at the southern end - I'm not too sure if there will be any connections at the northern end what work has been done far? All track has been lifted, and the track bed is being prepared at both ends of the extension - this includes land clearance or fitting bridges or whatever is required in preparation for laying the new track. Existing platforms are also 'getting attention'.

Well, if the little incident on the run to Liverpool Street was anything to go by, they won't finish too soon ;D
I have a question actually, as the East London Line is becoming part of the Overground network, i assume new rolling stock as been ordered. If this is indeed true, have TfL ordered new rolling stock for the former Silverlink lines that have the 313's on the Stratford - Richmond line and whatever the stock is on the Barking - Gospel Oak or will they just be getting a repaint/refurb?

New trains for everyone! Including the Watford - Euston line. They should begin arriving next year, and will feature Underground style sideways seating. The GOBLIN will get two car diesel units, while everyone else gets the same three car dual-voltage ones which will later be extended to four cars in 2010.
The East London Line will connect to the National Rail Network at the northern end, but the service will run parallel to the North London Line tracks to its terminus at Highbury & Islington. Canonbury and H&I stations will be extended to have four platforms, to accommodate this.
I guess it means they are no longer expecting to connect everything up to make the proposed circular service around London as the track layout would need to be changed again to support this.

The new trains ordered for the Overground network will be based upon the existing class 376 trains currently running with SET, the new trains will be given the designation of class 378 and will be based at the existing Willesden Junction depot and a new depot at New Cross.
The GOBLIN will recieve two coach versions of class 172 (a revised version of the existing "Flymo" class 170 design), which we at the Barking-Gospel Oak Users Group think is very short sighted as the GOBLIN is essentially an island amongst a sea of electrified lines and thus need a dedicated pool of diesel units to operate it!
We also question the wisdom of two coach units when the existing two coach 150s are very much very crush loaded at peak times and in all honestly the class 172s ordered should be increased to three coach to reduce the chronic overcrowding.

The 313s were originally built for the Moregate / Kings Cross inner suburban service, the service was cut back and the spare ones went to North London line, majority still work on GN lines, so others will rejoin them, but some may go off-lease. The new 378s are basically a 3 (or 4) car version of the class 376 on South-Eastern, but dual voltage (like some 375s and 377s) although the East London line fleet will initally not have 25kv ac equipment (but will be prewired) The other difference is much fewer seats (just a few transverse ones) so standing will be the norm tube style. The mainline companies have more seats as they aim for a target of max 135% passengers/seats (and max standing 20 mins) and if they exceed this (averaged over the peak 3 hour, not an individual train) they get fined under pixc (passengers in excess of capacity)

The problem with the Gospal Oak - Barking line is that it has been so under-funded over the years, leaving many of the stations dangerous, unpleasant and not up to London Underground/ Overground standard.
Take Woodgrange Park for example. All it basically has is 2 sets of staircases to 2 poorly maintained platforms that have no member of staff and average lighting. Some of these stations dont even have a ticket machine!
I feel a lot of work has got to be done to bring these up to standard. - Gareth.

SO the Euston Watford Line are no longer getting the Victoria Line Stock? What will happen to those 1967 rolling stock? There has been a long term plan of extending the Bakerloo beyond H&W all the way up to Watford Junction, replacing the Euston-Watford DC trains. This of course will need more trains for the Bakerloo line, which would come in form of the similar 1967 Victoria line stock. However, since the big plans for the NLR were revealed to the public, they have been watered down a bit (e.g. Barking- Clapham Junction service). Thus I am unsure of what has been put on hold or what the new service structure will be come 2010 when the improvemnt work finishes and the ELL comes back on stream. Therefore in the meantime the present service structure as present will continue. Bakerloo to/from H&W mixing in with Euston-Watford DC trains

Apparently the class 378 Overground trains are now referred to as Capitalstar by the builders Bombardier in Derby. Think this is a nickname rather than any official title, and fits in with the turbostar and electrostar names used for other trains with the same basic bodyshell
