I think in my opinion the Central Line has the best rolling stock on the entire system. They make this lovely little whine when accelerating along with a hum noise which sounds brillant. Also, the actual line is not bad. I wish it would branch off to Brixton lol.

Best trains when accelerating are the Jubilee Lines ones. They sound like a Forumla 1 car as they start off!! ;D

The Central Line's stock is the worst on the system. Held together by Scotchtape and with very uncomfortable seats.

I don't mind the Central Line stock but I just wish they would stop falling apart Best trains when accelerating are the Jubilee Lines ones. I like them but if the next new tubes trains sounds like the Central Lines current ones, then I'm happy. They are unusal in the fact they can't be used on any other line whereas most others can be used on other lines, for example the East London line before it closed used the Metropolitan Line trains.

The Central Line's stock (the 1992ts) can be used on other lines, but only when no other trains are running as they lack the traditional safety protection at signals because the Central Line doesn't use the 'tripcock' system.
The Metropolitan Line trains can't be used anywhere except the Metropolitan Line, East London Line and from Edgware Road - Baker Street because they are so wide.

A stock are the widest in Britain, in actual fact.
In terms of reliability, the D stock easily out-performs any other stock on LU - the worst are the C stocks............but the 92ts really aren't far behind the C stock at all. In fact all of the 90's stocks are pretty poor reliability wise.

They sound like a Forumla 1 car as they start off!! ;D The Northern Line rolling stock are very identical to the Jubille Line ones, excpet: 1) They pull away a lot slower, sometimes with that air compression "hissing" sound (I've been in some 59 stock that's quicker) 2) They don't make that 'Formula 1" sound that the Jubilees make I've been told the Northern Line stock are restricted to 60% power because their signals and lines are not up to date.

I've been told the Northern Line stock are restricted to 60% power because their signals and lines are not up to date. 62% to be precise I think they'll be de-restricted to full 100% power once ATO on the Northern Line kicks in.

Isn't the restriction not manual driving / signalling but because some sub-stations are old, and some feeder cables not designed for the maximum amps the new trains could draw. The power supply was based on the requirements of 1938 and 1959 stock trains, and not all of it is yet able to supply an extra 61% current that new trains could draw if unrestricted. Possibly ATO will be available around the same time as last sub-station is upgraded

The first time i actually travelled on the East London Line, they were using D stock Disctrict Line rolling stock. Then i was shocked to see them replaced by the older 62 stock trains. I didn't realised at the time that the D stock were temporarily assigned to this line so that the Metropolitan stock were converted to OPO.
