My first bus this morning (that is the bus that I had first), logged on to iBus through the ticket machine, just like the old! radios. Then, I found that the next stop announcements were working. All the stops were spoken out in advance, but every time that I opened either door, we were treated to "This is route 76 to Tottenham Town Hall" or similar - I was going to write it down exactly on my second half, but, lo and behold, the next bus didn't do it. Strangely, the announcement "to Tottenham Town Hall" is said at the second last stop, 'cos then she says "Tottenham Swan, where this bus terminates".

Only does on the first bell ring not every time but I know what you mean, apparently there's a facility to turn the voice off on the 200's, perhaps slr can tell us how to do it ;D

slr knows nothing of the sort Incidently I remember just starting secondary school when these came out brand new on the 492 - everyone was so amazed the bus talked!

iBus sounds pretty annoying from a drivers point of view, but, Im sure its the same for tube drivers, because they can probably hear the announcements in the cab, and just think about the staff on the platform "Mind The Gap" about 4 times everytime a train comes in, must get tiresome!! But... another question for you all, drivers listening to music via headphones whilst driving... allowed?

No headphones are not allowed, technically radios of any kind are not allowed, dosen't stop some drivers using them though

I take it now that smoking banned, although smoking had never been allowed inside the bus, drivers will be breaking the law by doing so? But, it will be a thing that they arent allowed to do, but do anyway Also, how quickly will a buses iBus system be updated if an unexpected diversion occurs, such as an RTA?

I'm sure the no smoking will be enforced, I have stopped smoking in the cab whilst not in service.
Good question about diversions.

I have been reliably informed that if you are to be diverted due to a road closure the ibus will automatically update and change info sent to bus stops etc. You will also have the facility to have the diversion sent as a text to you on the screen of your ibus radio I have been given an insight to it and I have to say it does look fab. Shame they bring it out after I stop driving though

When your on diversion the onboard display states the bus is on diversion, and unlike the current system, the exact location of the bus can be seen on a street map by the control room. As soon as the bus goes onto the diversion "on Diversion" will display inside the bus along with an audio announcement. Stuart.
