The only thing I find annoying is the "number number number <long pause> to <long pause> some place" every time the front doors open. It is displayed on both the front of the bus and the iBus screen, surely that is enough.
I really wish it would just announce the stops, and the occasional useful announcement. I was on a 109 last week and the driver seemed to be randomly playing one message or another every few minutes.
Otherwise I really miss it now when I go on routes that have not received it yet, it is like you have gone back in time.

Right, having experienced iBus I feel I can make some comments and suggestions. 1) Is there any need for it to announce the route number and destination when you only open the back doors? If people are getting off then they don't need to know where the bus is going do they. 2) The route number and destination needs to be played earlier, a lot of the time if there is only one person getting on it is playing it well after I have left the stop, sometimes causing it to miss announcing the next stop. 3) The Bus terminates here message needs to be played upon approach to the last stop, rather than after having sat at the stop for a minute or so, I have taken to setting the machine on announcements whilst I'm at the stop prior and then playing the message manually as I approach the last stop, also it should play the full message as per the announcement list. For those that don't know the announcement list one says "Bus terminates here, please take all your belongings with you." and the preset one just says "Bus terminates here." Other than that I'm starting to like it (I don't really hear the stop announcements over the sound of the engine etc...) and it is a godsend when on the N21's (both directions) as people now know the bus dosen't go to Newington Green (although they still ask to make sure) and also they get off with no fuss at Eltham

But it only plays after you are already on board, so even if you are blind you will have already had to have asked someone if it is the right service. I really cannot see what the purpose is of those announcements.

I really cannot see what the purpose is of those announcements. It has the same purpose as the Underground. So, you get one a Jubilee Line train at West Ham. As soon as it starts moving, it says "The next stop is Canning Town". It then goes to say "This is a Jubilee Line train to Stanmore/Willesden Green/Wembley Park". I think you now see why iBus does the same. BTW, the DLR also does a similar thing, only there's no lines to announce

I got on a 128 yesterday - iBus was working fine but I do have one observation.
I reckon that the announcements for some stops are too quick. Came up to the stop at Oldchurch Rise for Queens Hospital and it seemed to announce it really fast - I actually missed the announcement....

Decided to report a blank countdown screen to the number on the bus stop, amazingly the stop has different name on the central list to the one on the stop pole (the name on the pole is same as announced by i-bus)
For the record the official name when I called was the main road followed by the nearest side road, not the name on the stop which in this case was the name of a school Not sure if this is common which could explain why so many stops are poorly named.
This was about a month ago and it took about 2 weeks before the countdown screen was fixed, so this gives a guide on how high a priority accurate passenger info is seen as.

I like the I bus because it annoys the people on the mobile and has should be a announcement saying please ring the bell once every time some one rings the bell so every one is annoyed and so might stop ringing the bell 10 times before a stop

Well there might have been good reason for the delay. I know the maintanance of the countdown screens is contracted out to contractors as with all the electrical side of the bus shelter installs. My mates wife works in admin for one of the contractors and specifically deals with the London Bus shleter contract.

One small comment from me, get rid of the stopping signs which are left behind, silly that they still put the stopping signs in on brand new buses along with I-Bus.

Why? where's the harm in having a sign visible for people who can't see the main dot matrix screen.

Why? where's the harm in having a sign visible for people who can't see the main dot matrix screen. Indeed on a PVL or E there are plenty of seats that cannot see the iBus display's (besides the stopping sign at the front of the lower deck is what I look at to see if someone has rung the bell )
