I've noticed that since the last update (on Thursday) a lot of the messages have been removed, from memory the following have been removed. Driver Changeover. This stop is closed. Pickpockets operate in this area. Ticket check is about to commence. Keep your music down. An offence to travel without a valid ticket. Under 11's must touch in for free travel. Also I think we have a new one, about the Wheelchair bay and for people to get out of it and the next stop closed message has been re-recorded and now just says, "The next stop is closed." Very strange about some of them being taken off, especially the music one

The "Smoking and Drinking", "Diversion"and "Regulation of service" recordings have all been re-done!!

Question for those of you driving iBus buses. which driver activated announcements do you think are the most useful? the list of them seems very long, if you could pick only one or two which would you pick? do you think they should get rid of some of them so you don't have to scroll through to get the one you want? If you remember the number that goes with a particular announcement you only have to key in that number to get THAT particular announcement highlighted. Saves a bit of time on the use of the arrow keys. ;D What does the diversion message say now? I believe the old one was, "THIS BUS IS ON DIVERSION"

Noticed some of the messages were missing on friday. They should not have got rid of the closing doors message. I thinkg it good they changed the next stop is closed message. Much simplier.
Now we got the wheelchair message we could have more similar messages such as press bell to request stop, give seat to elderly, or even please do not slam the windows. These were some of the things I wanted to say to passengers today but was unable to

I think the general idea is to get more drivers to use the PA system by reducing the amount of pre-recorded meaasges available to them!!

I think the general idea is to get more drivers to use the PA system by reducing the amount of pre-recorded meaasges available to them!! The problem there is some drivers will NOT want to use the PA as they can't be bothered, or are too much concentrated on other aspect of his/her duties. Don't get me wrong, it's great that ALL buses are now having PA systems to use so that we have a choice, but the pre recorded messages makes it that much easier for the driver to do his/her job. I think a bottle of Evian water should be given to each driver per duty as PA talking on a regular basis does dry out one's mouth. FUNNY BUT TRUE! ;D And we much remember that we're all human and prone to everyday pressure (even more so whilst on duty), which could make some driver unwittingly abuse the PA system with rudeness or misunderstandings. At least with recorded messages the announcements sound more professional and polite....with NO DISRESPECT to the drivers.

Got on the PA the other week as there were no trains from Eltham due to broken train at stn. Told passengers the situation at High St so they could get bus to Lewisham or Mottingham Stn, they looked at me like im an idiot (no sarcastic comments please) as we approach stn I even heard one say "whats the driver on about there is a train there now". There was and it was still there an hour later.

True, I've been playing the next stop closed message on the N89 as I go over Blackfriars Bridge (due to the fact the next stop, Blackfriars Station is closed) and as soon as the message plays someone is bound to ring the bell

Last week all the stops in brixton (southbound) was closed. I played the next stop closed message twice and still got people ringing the bell constantly. Spoke to a couple of drivers about this. One told me he played it seven times but it was no use lol I've been told some buses still have all the origional messages. I think so. I remember having a bus on my second half and the messages were there so thought there was a fault on the other bus. Only vaguely remember.

During the rush hour I had one driver play "please stand clear of the closing doors" and nearly everytime at least two punters would shout for the driver to hold on. I think the driver purposely played the message too soon, must've been his last trip. ;D Oh how I'd find many occasions to use that one.... unfortunately TfL are taking that message off the menu.
