Ok,
The following bus operating companies, perhaps not limited to these, serve this area;
Arriva ELBG Group East Thames Buses London Central Travel London
The Travel London buses are all single deckers, whilst Arriva send Enviros and Wright bodied buses amongst other bus types on their route(s) here. London Central send PVLs amongst other types of buses here.
So, where could I be, and what are the routes ;D

(78/254-Arriva, 100-TL, 42-ETB, 15/25-EL, 40-LC, and also 67-First and 205-Metroline) Had the Travel London vehicles been 'deckers, could have been the very southern part of King William Street, north of Adelaide House/Fishmongers Hall (junction with Arthur St).

I knew someone was going to say Aldgate! You haven't got it wrong, although the 78/254 don't see Enviros . There is another place in London which fits the criteria - where is it? NB I needn't have added group to ELBG!

201 doesn't serve any areas where ELBG routes serve.
If its not aldgate then it has to be dulwich common? 185-east thames, P4-ELBG, P13-TL, 197-arriva(enviros have strayed onto this route), and 363-LC

The 197 indeed has Enviros on occasionally, saw T48 on it this morning and is usually a mix of DWs and DLAs. You could also have had the 176 for Arriva. I'm sure there's not much I can tell you about the P13, though I did see 8102 on it a few minutes ago. The Arriva Enviros which were appropriate for Aldgate would be the 135.

Had some inspiration today, here goes I board a bus at its first stop and head south. This bus is a prototype. I get off this bus outside its home and jump on another bus which has virtually the same bodywork. Along this route we overtake a DW, V, VR, VNW, VLW, VWL, WVL, and another prototype (of sorts), all in the same place. The VLW was longer... For full points, you must state - where I started - fleet number of the first bus - where I changed - exactly where we saw and overtook those buses - what routes those buses were on - what the other "prototype" was - where I ended up

VERY challenging quiz there CCK, nice one

Everything is right, except B9 is not what I was thinking of, though it would have fit the theme of Wright buses. If it helps, the bus I'm thinking commenced service in 2006 and is more of a one off/pioneer than a prototype.

If I don't get this one I'll let someone else answer... but I reckon it's 18500 (Spirit Of London), on route 26...

Yep that's the one, full marks ;D. Looks like Aldwych is the place to go if you want to photograph a variety of Geminis/ Pulsars.
