I wonder which is the longest service bus route in the UK ?? - here in Leeds we have the Yorkshire Coastliner 840 that goes from Leeds to Whitby a grand total of 3hours and 30 minutes on a Wright Volvo B9TL or B7TL Gemini a guaranteed sore bum when you finally get to the beach and then there's the 3hours 30mins on the return to Leeds to look forward to.
The last 30 miles are over the North Yorks Moors.
Staff are mostly very helpfull and friendly and I recommend it to any of you twirlys with a bit of time to spare. Jim

route 724 harlow to heathrow 93 miles 3 hours that mileage is totally wrong. Maximum for the 724 between Harlow and Heathrow is no more than 60, probably slightly less!

This route used to go to Bournemouth, & take 5 hours, imagine going on the round trip? I've been on the Yorkshire Coastliner 843[only between Leeds & York though], YC have a policy of having vehicles less than 3 years old, anything older gets transferred to other company's in the Transdev Group.

Yes, and it's taken from Wikipedia, NOT a trusted source IMHO! Look at the route length, (quote) 92 miles (57km). Now, when I went to school, a kilometre was substantially LESS than a statute mile. Has it changed? It SHOULD have read 57 miles (92km), which is what I said in the first place! ;D

Greetings! This is my first post, so be gentle with me! Title of the thread is 'Longest BUS (not coach!) service', so get your maps out for this one! My offering is operated by Tim Dearman Coaches and is a seasonal route from Inverness to Durness (Smoo Cave) of 1 journey each way from late April until late September. Total distance is 170miles each way, taking 5hr 18min to Durness (with a break of 30min at Ullapool)and 4hr30 to Inverness! Check out the website at www.timdearmancoaches.co.uk/durness. Mal PS I live in Liverpool and have yet to try it, but it would be a real challenge to do it all in one day - even from Inverness!!

I don't know as I haven't done the route yet, but a mate of mine and his wife went up there last year and said that Inverewe Gardens (south of Ullapool) was almost tropical, so I'd imagine it would be!

I believe you cannot do the X53 from Poole to Exeter in one day. A highly successful route from First there. Yes the service from Bournemouth has been cut back to Poole. Gather Western Greyhound have a 510 Exeter-Newquay which is a lot of milage as well. Not sure on the X5 Oxford to Cambridge for milage.
