Will the central London ULEZ apply to just TFL services, or to all buses entering the area? Because many coaches, sightseeing tour buses and rail replacement vehicles are not compliant, and will be costly to replace them in such a short period of time before April 2019. Even if euro6 disels are allowed, many vehicles will be too old to be converted (or non-standard).

Double deckers on TfL routes entering the ULEZ will need to be euro6 hybrids or zero emission with single deckers routes into the zone to be zero-emissioned. Non TfL buses and coaches (sightseeing, excursions, etc) can keep their existing buses/engines if they desire as long as their exhaust system's upgraded to euro6 emissions.

Sightseeing operators will still need to replace a lot of their fleet, with many vehicles being older than euro 4 (Tridents, DB250s, B7TLs etc). Are the stagecoach 55/06reg TAs new enough to be upgraded to euro6?

Whilst this is true, some Euro2 can't be converted, but most can. Whether it is economical to do so is another question.

I would imagine firms will decide accordingly in modifications or replacement.

Most of the older sightseeing vehicles in London already meet at least Euro IV emissions due to upgrades whilst in regular service or newer engines fitted. The Stagecoach TA’s already meet at least Euro IV emissions via mods.

It is also possible that a commercial decision may be made not to modify the summer high peak extras, at least for the first couple of years. The buses that go only go out as extras on busy summer weekends. The cost of the fine vs the potential extra revenue (say 200 people at £25 = £5000 revenue) might make more sense than trying to modify an old bus. RAPT has already indicated London is getting some electric sightseeing buses, and is early converter of a number of cities getting some electric sightseeing buses over next 5 years. I would expect the new buses to be in the year round fleet, not in seasonal use, due to their cost.

Would be good, as most of us with Euro5 cars don't really want to get rid if emissions could be fixed. they do it for taxi's but not cars Euro 5 has EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) and DPF (particulate filters) which burn off the soot, but lacks the AdBlue to reduce the NOx. It would be great but the challenge is a universal system for all the various cars out there. BTW RATP DLP's were re-engined to Euro5 after they left service on the 29 / 329 with Arriva. They went to Smiles Engineering who retrofitted Cummins engines, having removed the original Euro2 DAF. You will notice the pipe is not quite centre on the tour bus DLP's. Not sure if they will do the B7TL VLY deckers. They could do the Optare B9's to Euro 6.

None of our TA’s are Euro 6 and I’m pretty sure none will be upgraded as the cost isn’t worth it for a bus so old, Even the ones that have retrofit Engines. I’m totally not plugging Megasightseeing.com but please keep buying tickets because then we can have awesome new buses next year like Tri Axle ADL Hybrids anyone ? We need something Mega anyway
