Was riding on TP383 on the 248 earlier and wondered, this bus has iBus installed, yet it was turned off. Is it possible for the iBus to be programmed for routes that haven't been installed yet? Might sound abit of a thick question, but things like this always gets my brain wandering off in weird directions ;D

And does every bus have every announcement saved on it? or does it only have its own garage's announcements?

What I meant was - does the ibus computer have every single stop announcement in London saved on it? Presumably it can download different ones from the mobile phone network the bus uses.

The iBus stop announcements are recorded once in a central database. Each route has its stop sequence stored, so the system compiles the announcements by "picking" the stops. The sequence for each route is sent to the garage(s) working the route. Each bus at the garage downloads the info for that garage's routes, usually during nightly servicing (theoretically!). So if a stop name changes, each route that passes that stop will be automatically updated. Each bus will then pick up the change following the next occasion a download is sent to the garage. Hope this helps Ted B It's pre- recorded messages provided by TfL. What I meant was - does the ibus computer have every single stop announcement in London saved on it? Yes they are all there, but you can only log onto your own operators routes. I've logged on a BX bus as a 453 to Deptford Bridge ;D which also must mean that they group LC/LG together.
But try log it on as a 96 it won't have it!

But try log it on as a 96 it won't have it! They do group company routes together as the seperate control centres (radio rooms) can release or take control of another garages routes if required for whatever reason, i.e. Garage Control Centre closes early, garage reqires evacuation etc etc. This also helps with the movement of vehicles between depots as well. However this doesn't garuntee a call request goes through to the correct operating garage, i've personally made call requests on normal 'daytime' BX routes and had my calls answered by Camberwell and New Cross, i've even heard of drivers recieveing calls from Merton as well. I also know of occasions where Rail Replacement buses log on to ibus as normal routes to contact thier local garage.

Correct, I've also gone through to Stockwell whilst doing a 229, oh and the Inspector was very rude and refused to contact BX for me
