There is a lot of speculation over what they are - it is either part of the now defunct tunnel cleaning train, or the remaining undamaged cars from the unit involved at Russel Square/Kings Cross on 7/7/05.
It depends who you listen to really, unless you know someone who works at Northfields depot and they have looked underneath the tarpaulin.

They are cars from the July bombing trains, from further along the train.
I have seen under the tarpaulin enough to see that they are 73TS and the shunter said the rest.

The car numbers have been reported as 366 and 566, but this is NOT confirmed. IF the numbers ARE correct, and it's a big IF, they would be an UNDM and T (trailer). Again, IF they were part of the 7/7 train, they would have to be the 4th and 5th cars from the front, since the SECOND car (also a trailer and with a 3xx number) was damaged in the blast. The damaged C Stock, also in the same series of atrocities, were reported as having been broken up and the remains SECURELY disposed. This is to ensure that survivors and the realtives of the deceased will suffer no further distress concerning the 'fate' of these trains.

Only the saloon was securly disposed of. The bogies and other underfloor equipment were sent abroad. There, new saloons were built and the cars are back in passenger service.

Which one are you asking about?
I dunno what happened to the 73ts, but as thedoctor says, the damaged C stock cars were basically rebuilt from the solebar up - everything above that (ie, everything above floor level) was securely disposed of and so on the rebuilt cars from the floor up is brand new.

Speaking of the Piccadilly line itself, it seems to be one of the most reliable lines on the system up until recently; when up to 4 instances of severe delays occurred in a single week and most recently today suspended between Arnos Grove and Hyde Park Corner. But it's still almost flawless IMO.

The Picadilly line has to be extra reliable, what with the airport link in all.

Looks like things have turned for the worst on the Piccadilly line today. It has experienced a WHOLE day of delays AFAIK. I've been on a train earlier today and it was announced that there was a power failure at South Kensington. This was later followed by a separate incident at Turnham Green once I've reached Hammersmith, which resulted in my train terminating at Northfields instead of continuing to Heathrow T4 & 1 ,2 ,3. There were also a lot of anxious faces at Hatton Cross due to the lack of trains going to T5. How much worse can it get?
