I can yes, but when you have a very reliable service like the DLR, and the pretty reliable Jubilee Line, then it makes sense to go that way rather than get off at Manor Park and rely on the 101 or 474. The only other route i can get is the 366, and that isn't the best in the world as Bighat would prove

May 2009 works from an official DLR/TfL leaflet i found in my lecture today ;D
"The reopening of Tower Gateway station sees the resumption of through services to Beckton. Passengers travelling from that part of the City towards Beckton will no longer have to change at Canning Town
Services will start to improve as junction work is completed, allowing us to operate a more robust operation and improved frequencies.
There will be fewer weekend closures in 2009 although service changes and some closures will continue to be necessary for some time.
In May, extensive junction works taking place in the Canning Town area will result in a nine-day closure of stations between Blackwall/East India and Prince Regent and Blackwall/East India and Pontoon Dock/London City Airport."
The Canning Town works is all down to the new flyover track which is currently having track laid on it as we speak. The leaflet goes on to say that "a new fly-over track will allow more trains to operare through this busy interchange, improving reliability and service" In addition, these are the following closures until May
21/22 March - Westferry - Beckton/W'wich Arsenal
4/5 April - Bank - Canary Wharf, Bank/Tower Gateway - Canning Town, Stratford - Canary Wharf
18/19 April - Bank - Mudchute, Bank/Tower Gateway - Canning Town, Stratford - Mudchute, Canning Town - Beckton
9/10 May - Stratford - Canary Wharf, Canning Town - Beckton
23-31 May - Blackwall/ East India - Prince Regent, Blackwall/East India - Pontoon Dock/London City Airport

Unfortunately there's no information about the bus services to be provided. I'm sure we will find out at a later stage though ;D
