Service A will be operated by Abellio London Service B will be operated by Abellio London with coaches Service C will be operated by Abellio London with coaches Service D will be operated by Metroline Service A looks to be a very long route. A few years ago I did Hammersmith to Boston Manor but studying the maps, it's looking like Boston Manor to T5 will be the challenging part. I believe a lot of route learning is taking place this week. Hopefully 9401 or 9525 will be available tomorrow night. If all goes well should be 0038 and 0458 from T5 and 0230 from Hammersmith in the small hours of Saturday! And looks like no rail replacement to Chiswick Park, when did this walk to another suburban station become acceptable Well... all the day buses start from Gunnersbury as Chiswick Business Park is a very convenient turning point from a drivers point of view. Gunnersbury isn’t too far a walk from Chiswick Park.

Wonder if we will see some 'high-spec' buses on the B/C, Ensign BCI's?

Interesting to see Abellio London provide the coaches. It’s crazy how many there will need to be for the weekend! The section between Acton Town and Osterley is frustrating. So much zig zagging... Boston Manor to Northfields takes sooooooo long. I remember the survey took 2 hours... each direction... Part of me just wants to explore the Piccadilly service and some of the RRBS to see how smoothly everything is running. Best of luck with your shift tomorrow night! Thanks...looking forward to it! I haven't done the route learning but many years of riding the bus network has given some familiarity with the network...the maps and other tools Abellio provide will be sufficient to join the dots. You should go out for a rounder if you have 4 hours to spare!

And looks like no rail replacement to Chiswick Park, when did this walk to another suburban station become acceptable Tube tickets are valid on local buses too - I know the one most closely serving Chiswick Park has been withdrawn but the Turnham Green Church stops aren't too far away!

The Piccadilly replacement services B and C are using coaches from a wide variety of different operators. Clarke’s of London, KingsFerry, Symphony coaches, Lewis coaches, Westbus, BM Coaches, Lucketts of Watford, Dans Luxury Travel, Reading and Wokingham coaches, Highway and Walters of Oxfordshire amongst the ones seen so far. Probably the most interesting vehicle is from Walters FIL2688 ex T726JHE Scalia/Irizar. There is also a tri axle Setra from Hamilton Gray in Devon.

Midday rounder is around 215 minutes and the service runs every 7-8 minutes so I'd hazard a guess of 28-29 buses plus standbys. For the last closure Abellio sourced coaches from BM Coaches/Symphony so probably more of the same this time! TfL wanted proper coaches with luggage bays and porters were supplied at stops.

How useful do people find the rail replacement linear diagrams provided by LU on buses?

How useful do people find the rail replacement linear diagrams provided by LU on buses? They come in particularly handy when there are multiple rail replacement services about and people want to see where the bus is going. Most ask roadside staff, if there are any or failing that, the driver. Did you have any particular views on them, as they can be fed back to those involved with rail replacement at TfL?

I think it can often be some reassurance to see a tube style linear map. I did witness the roadside staff at Putney this morning using them well, to show passengers where the bus was going.

I agree completely. The reason I asked is because LU have now stopped producing these citing cost and that the information is widely available elsewhere. Where elsewhere is I don't know, but this is where publicity is heading

The South London Line rail replacement service between Clapham Junction and Surrey Quays/Canada Water is changing hands from Arriva London to Abellio London. First date of operation for the new contract is today.
Ironically it is annoying when that line is shut - working in Battersea I usually take the Overground from Queens Road or Denmark Hill to Wandsworth Road. Supposedly the replacement bus takes 33-45 minutes to do the journey, but the waiting time for a service like this is based on complex and unpredictable variables which cannot be computed. I can't deal with the stress of that so commuting via London Bridge and Waterloo or London Bridge and Clapham Common it will be! Then I'll sign on and drive the very same route I just avoided.
From a driving perspective I relish the route given I grew up in the area but it is difficult if you don't know the area - lots of twists and turns and buses have been known to go missing, not to be seen again for hours in the past.

Before rail replacement became dominated by two main operators this was occasionally run by London United AV. Which was much more interesting given London United had no routes at all within that area. It is a lovely route and I recall some drivers getting hopelessly lost , usually around Denmark Hill or between the Old Kent Road and Peckham. It was annoying as it was operated every 30 mins. I think HH helped out sometimes too, seem to recall travelling on a VH on it.
