Travelled on HV245 on the Goblin replacement bus service (LO-J) the ibus screen and announcements was working but it wasn't tracking on LVF. I checked LO-T that isn't tracking either just wondering why it wasn't Yeah, the situation on that is a bit weird, it seemed to be tracking on google maps a bit, the iBus screen was half working, it was not on LVF when I was on the bus but later that evening I noticed it was on iBus, and it still is now. I'm not exactly sure why that was, it seems like yesterday there was an issue which has now been fixed, but I (and the other few passengers) was not too worried about that when my journey went so spectacularly wrong that I (as an enthusiast riding for fun...) decided to get off at Highbury and Islington (yeah, there really should not have been a Goblin line rail replacement bus at Highbury Corner, but that is what happened). Honestly the routing was pretty strange and pointless, and I cannot understand who thought the bus should go any nearer to Finsbury Park than it absolutely needs to considering there was an Arsenal game that weekend. My bus did get unlucky because Seven Sisters Road closed but I still think the overall idea really was not that good.

Without wishing to comment on that specific trip, some people need to be supervised constantly at work otherwise will run early when it isn't appropriate to. Some minor dramas on that route. Norman Road in Greenwich was shut and it looked rather long term. A quick scan of Greenwich's website reveals it shut in September 2019 and will be closed until March 2021. No warning however so a lot of buses were improvising and bypassing the stop for Deptford in both directions. I still served it however and had to go on a detour to turn the bus around, much to the bemusement of the passengers. Abbey Wood - the station stops have changed to the pair outside of the station. The maps provided did show this. I found myself stopping 3 times. Once on either side of the bridge and again at the old stops on Knee Hill as there were confused passengers all over the place. Some buses only stopped on Knee Hill. Erith - some buses were serving the station forecourt!!

Rail work makes me laugh and is so disorganised it makes my laugh. Norman Road has been closed for months and the stops at Abbey Wood changed months ago. To be fair Go Ahead did send this information out, but what are the useless controllers doing? To be fair the controller did a good job - I was warned of other disruption like the drama in Erith with all the accidents yesterday. Norman Road came as a surprise to me - hadn't driven the route for a long time and it was shown on the maps as usual. I did report it when I got to Dartford and was told to serve Deptford Bridge for Deptford which I did do on my second rounder. However National Rail is still showing the official rail replacement stops on Deptford Church Street so this ought to be updated as that station is on the closed line.

Metroline have been once again operating the Hampstead Heath to Stratford London Overground replacement service today using a mixture of TEs, TEHs, VWHs and a VMH with a 10yr vehicle age range (TE 2008 to VMH 2018).
There were a few observed occasions of bunching but I don't know if that was through buses running late or poor service regulation. All buses seen were showing correct blinds and were all displaying the inadequate destination boards. However a number of buses were also showing the helpful linear diagram. Observed loadings did seem very poor, even for a Sunday rail replacement service.

Some of them definitely are and the high frequencies of others are also. I do wonder if TfL are legally obliged to provide these replacement services though

I do wonder if TfL are legally obliged to provide these replacement services though I presume TFL are legally required to run replacement services if trains aren't running. What would the passenger do if there isn't? Along that stretch of line there isn't really much of a bus route that go direct to where they want to go

So no idea what is legally required

It has been quiet for most of the month. Once people have paid off their Christmas bills and it warms up a bit I expect weekend travel will return to normal.

When I last used this service a year or two ago it was extremely busy - typically full and standing between Stratford and Highbury, quite busy between Highbury and Camden, and much quieter between Camden and Hampstead. Is it more frequent now?
