Yes, it's certainly disconcerting when B5LH Hybrids stall on that little hill. The best way to avoid the 'stalling' to floor it very quickly while pulling away from the station bus stop as that triggers the diesel engine and then you have no issues. Otherwise you have to stop before the roundabout, put the handbrake on and wait for the engine to start up in its own time. I would love to see how a TE or OME performs on the 107. Speaking of... View AttachmentAs an erstwhile occasional passenger on the 107 when it was at EW, I can state that that travelling up Brockley Hill on a TE, was an utterly cringeworthy. Those buses on the route were not fit for that particular purpose. You notice the same thing if you get stuck behind a 324 DE. Not as bad as some (most) of the TEHs when they were on the 107... goodness me

Just seen VWH2701, which is one of the ex AH TT Gemini 2 Hybrid’s fitted with the Dayglow blinds whilst on the deadrun to HT from route 4. I assume the blinds were inherited from VW1300 which hasn’t been on the run since last March

I took one of the 13-reg TEHs on the 210 and it really struggled on Highgate Hill, never mind the 107. Awful vehicles

I wonder if the 302 will take the VWHs from the 98. There's nothing wrong with its current allocation. I can see a lot of the hybrids travelling up north for the Bee Network contracts

Surely Something younger should be used for the new contract.

Yes, TfL vehicles shouldn’t be older then 15 years old at contract’s end, but there has been a few notable exceptions, probably to do with money. I believe there is a rule in Manchester too, which is that second hand buses being used for won contracts mustn’t be more than 15 years old at the start, hence why 13 year old ex London WVLs are being used at Go North West, and 10 year old hybrids are being sent from Metroline. I’m not sure if (especially the 60-reg WVL’s) will make it all the way to the end of GNW’s 5 year term though as they will be getting on a bit by then

Surely Something younger should be used for the new contract. Similar reason why 28 was allowed to use 11/12 year old buses as that is 3 years also. Don’t think those will be going to Manchester for that reason either. Also probably better those G2s stay at AC engineering wise. Seems a challenge to keep those on the road unlike G3s. 3-4/17buses seem long term unfit as I type this.

I photographed this batch when they were new for the 7 in 2014. The refurb has done them no favours. They look awful.
