Thanks, that's much more sensible. If Metroline stick some slightly nicer buses on it they might get a bit of cash from me. Unless a miracle happens, it'll [sadly] be TfL cast-offs for the foreseeable future. Some DELs are however being replaced by the 55 plated TEs from Holloway.
A great shame it went to E200's with those awful hard plastic seats. Can't beat being on a double deck thrashing between Potters Bar and London Colney

I assume the TEs have been made surplus to requirements following the VWHs on the 4 & 17. Are there any remaining TPs/VPs/VPLs left at Holloway?

Are there any remaining TPs/VPs/VPLs left at Holloway? 18 VPL's have been on the 43 at some point today, so they are very much alive and kicking Though I'm seeing more VWH's (15 reg) slip onto the route, so perhaps they are on borrowed time...

Many thanks for that. I can see the VPLs disappearing when the 271 tender is announced (assuming the latter is awarded with new buses).

HT should be getting enough VWHs to see them off before that - and the 43 is up for tender before the 271 anyway. TPs left HT a long time ago but there are still a couple of VPs clinging on for now. The remaining VP/VPLs are mostly used on the 4 and 43. The 271 still uses TEs for now as it needs short-wheelbase vehicles to negotiate the stand at Highgate.

84 [From Potters Bar through] Barnet to New Barnet carries little more than fresh air due to the prevalence of TfL routes that mirror the section. I believe all single fares from the Greater London boundary to New Barnet are £1 (or similar) to match the TfL rates. Original plan was for a 20 minute frequency Barnet to St. Albans, but was met by many objections with little reasoning, so ended up with a half hourly full service and Potters Bar shorts to match the current frequency on the better used part. Part of the timetable change is to improve reliability. Objections from whom ?

Per LVF it appears VWH2415 has entered service on route 98 This is numbered 31 above the previous highest numbered bus VWH2383 in service
Could this be start of batch of stored new buses being used

I’m guessing the people who live or work between Potters Bar and St Albans who didn’t want a reduction in the frequency of the 84. I wonder if tfl would have listened if it was a tfl service rather than a commercial one

New Optare Solos coming to Metroline. Unless Arriva Lend them the Optares which originally came from Metroline.

The Metroline ones after coming off the H2/H3 went on to do some commercial work in Watford before being sold to Mullanys

Presumably about 6 (narrow) buses for H2, H3, 631 SR slim (euroIV) is available as 7.87m or 8.57m (max capacity 35 or 38), possibly less with weighty TfL equipment), so which length?
