The remains of a sofa that magically landed in front of me at Vauxhall earlier in my shift. A nice leaving present for me Leaving present? Where are you off to? Chiltern. 9 shifts left. Thought I’d try something new with 12 years at Waterloo.

Was this the "obstruction on the line" that resulted in yet another shambolic suburban service yesterday? Had to wait over half-an hour for a train to Epsom at Wimbledon yesterday evening with a couple running fast. Totally unacceptable again SWR...... I agree mate: how dare the sofa spawn itself onto the railway and how dare the driver not stop in time Pity the 'culprit' wasn't sitting on it at the time

Meanwhile at Feltham, work to extend the platforms has picked up pace — with a “possibility of opening at year’s end” (note: rumour).
Also work continues on the depot/stabling facility on the old marshalling yard. One track has been laid so far...

Is there a danger that the Feltham station and associated bridge works might come in marginally less than a year late?

I agree with unions striking dispite the disruption caused for a number of issues and I think ALL trains should have two members of staff however I do think you should be consistent , a mile down the road at Southern it's ok to have a On Board Supervisor which is a similar style railway network to SWR's but on SWR it's not ? And Driver Controlled Operation as far as I know just means the Driver Opens and Closes the doors so would literally be the same situation as what it is now on some Southern Routes ? They don't do any favours with this 27 days around Christmas aswell .

The worst TOC I have ever travelled with, and I am livid that they will potentially mess up my December 😡

I am the last person who wants to see First/MTR stripped of their franchise but this is beyond a joke now. Everyday SWR has the worst excuses for delays, my favourite at the moment is "congestion on the line". It still annoys me that Stagecoach were booted out of a franchise that was one of the best in the country, admittedly not without its problems but without a doubt a more reliable, functional and workable service. SWR is a shadow of what SWT was and should have continued to be. If any incoming transport minister has any sense they will place emergency measures on SWR and hopefully strip First/MTR of the contract. i really can't take another 5 years of this.

First/MTR took a franchise that was running to capacity and added extra and longer trains: also meddling with operation issues hasn’t helped, and the diagrams are now horrendous. I’ve gone from a 9 and a half hour job of 3 Kingston rounders and a Weybridge via Hounslow to a Banbury Stopper and High Wycombe was a no brainer.

You were right to leave SWR, its a sinking ship and it will end in disaster for First/MTR. The amount of angry tweets that I read and see on a daily basis are incredible but justifiable. It astonishes me the stuff that SWR gets away with. A couple of weeks ago in New Malden a 707 pulled up with its horn stuck on. The driver and station staff couldn't get it to turn off, it was deafening on the street so it must have been even louder on the platform. The driver carried on to deafen the whole of South West London.
