According to Ian Armstrong's website: 'certain duties are worked by Putney Drivers' www.londonbuses.co.uk/_routes/current/039.htmlLooking at the bus schedules, it appears AF has 4 duties. There is also 1 duty (PL34) that works the AM peak then finishes at AF, then an AF driver takes that bus out for the PM peak

Those early enviros do seem to do that, when Bromley had the 58 plates some did this and the engineer said it was worn engine mountings. As I said earlier in the thread Plumstead had the same problem. These are 11 plates. Yeah but they are euro 4 right?

It's up to the operator to make sure they do have enough hybrids available which is why they aren't appearing on routes like the 321 and 337 as much as they used to do. What if they have a hybrid shortage and have no choice but to put a euro 6 diesel? They have a choice, its either an NSB or a 12.50 fine

They have a choice, its either an NSB or a 12.50 fine What's a NSB? NSB = No Service Bus, Basically it means that a route is running with one less bus than it supposed to.

They could be upgraded to Euro 6 Diesel but not Euro 6 hybrid. Who told you that they couldn’t? Nevertheless it should not be holding a ULEZ Compliant sticker, it is incorrect, they may only be a Euro 6 Diesel this means they are not to be ran in the ULEZ. The bus is ULEZ compliant in the sense that it can enter the ULEZ without the operator being charged, as it has been upgraded to EuroVI. However it cannot be used in service on a TfL route within the ULEZ, because TfL require DDs within the ULEZ to be hybrid or zero-emission. If it did run in service, the operator would be fined by TfL for non-compliance.

What if they have a hybrid shortage and have no choice but to put a euro 6 diesel? As somebody else has already said they get fined. Although I understand where your coming from, I doubt they'd get fined in the event someone/something destroys their fleet or contaminates the fuel which are two events that have happened in the last ten years to two garages?

Does Route 5 touch anywhere that will soon require Euro 6 buses? I only ask because I have seen multiple WVLs that are not Euro 6 treated.

No, the route falls outside the current ULEZ and any other "green bus" corridor. I cant remember if there was anything in the tender award that stated any Euro V vehicles would be upgraded to Euro VI

I cant remember if there was anything in the tender award that stated any Euro V vehicles would be upgraded to Euro VI Surprising seeing as it's a long route that as you said runs to close to ULEZ etc. I thought they would be a green coridoor on some point of the route. This does however mean that there are very few WVLs that would be allowed on Route 104 due to Stratford LEZ.

Presumably, the WVL's are being done in advance of the London wide ULEZ and possibly also to allow flexibility by allowing more buses on the 104 into Stratford.
