Are you sure. because they have not even been delivered yet. Because up to 145 has been delivered and up to 143 is in service. 3 car trains are planned to run on the Beckton Branch september this year. Correct Beckton Park and Cyprus can already handle 3 car trains. Royal Albert and Gallions Reach will be selctive door operation. well it was about 15.25 east/south towards lewisham at shadwell and i had to look twice and i would say i am 85% certain it was 149-150 Sadly it defentley not them 1's that you saw. John I think the Stratford extension is planned to open in july with a 3 cars only going to Royal Victoria until the platform extensions are compleate. I cant remember why the speed restiction is there all i remember is that its been like that for nearly 2 years now.

Should make life alot easier for me, no more interchange at Canning Town for the Jubilee That speed restriction hasn't been in that long. I'm certain that it was a normal speed before the summer, then when i went back to uni in the September, it was in force. How many new units have been ordered? I know the current number of the older batch are at 99, so that would make 33 3 car units. At 2 car status, there were 49 units available to run the whole service (one left over) so i'm guessing to keep the same level of service, another 48 would have to be ordered? Or have i got the maths completely wrong

Or have i got the maths completely wrong Yes, but in the old batch (numbered 01-99) there are only 94 units IIRC. This was caused by withdrawal and sale of earlier units, and reuse of the numbers. I think the 'missing' five numbers are around 16-20, but confirmation would be appreciated.

Apparently the price was too good to refuse, but i'm certain i've rode 17, unless i was drunk coming home from uni and imagined it ;D

Don't want to be pedantic but I think you will find the plan is to operate DLR trains as 3 pairs of cars, which would make them 6 car trains in total not 3.

Current and future deliveries are as follows:- Car type numbers total units B2K 01-16 16 B90 22-44 23 B92 45-91 47 B2K 92-99 8 sub total 94 B07 101-124 24 B09 125-155 31 sub total 55 TOTAL 149 The P89 stock (of which 17 was one) were sold to Essen, in Germany, in 1997. What age did you start drinking?

I understand what you're saying, but actually one unit is classified as one car, unlike on National Rail where they would be classified as a two car unit. Even the publicity is stating that they will be operating 3 car trains. Bighat, started when i was 17, but only started using the DLR on a regular basis about 2 years ago ;D I might go and complain the S.U bar telling them they're rotting my memory away

It's like calling a class 315 unit a one carriage train, even though there are clearly 4 within the unit

Not going to open a new thread, but according to Modern Railways magazine the opening of DLR extension from Canning Town to Stratford has been put back again.
Now likely to open in February 2011 (was originally summer 2010), but there has been construction problems

Trains in Poplar depot were marshalled up into three unit sets too.
