I just wanted to clear up any confusion about iBus on the 208s. I know beaver has said it's in hand to be fixed but I've noticed a few strong words directed towards the drivers so I just wanted to put my side across as one of those drivers!
There are a couple of different scenarios with iBus on the 208s. Firstly, when one programs in the Wayfarer, the iBus doesn't log in at all as it should. Manually logging in the iBus doesn't yield anything either. In that case, there's no iBus at all. As far as I'm aware the garage isn't able to track the individual buses either although the radio still works fine
Alternatively, iBus does log in, but doesn't display the correct destination. When leaving Orpington, it'll say '208 to Petts Wood,' and when leaving Catford it'll say '208 to Bromley Common.'
If you are travelling towards Catford from Orpington, initially iBus tells you that you are going to Petts Wood but when you get to Petts Wood it simply changes to Catford. If that happens to me, I generally switch the announcements and the display back on. Similarly, when travelling towards Orpington from Catford, iBus will tell you that you are going to Bromley Common, but when you reach the Crown it switches to Orpington. Again, I switch the announcements and display on at that point. I can't speak for all the drivers and as far as I'm aware there is no official guidance but if the announcements are showing the correct destination, I'll always switch them on
Travelling towards Lewisham yields nothing. You get past Catford and the MDT screen shows Lewisham as a terminus but none of the stops in between and the countdown clock shows when you should be back at Catford
I actually hope the system is fixed soon because I think iBus is a useful tool for a lot of passengers. I know I tell passengers to listen out for certain announcements for a stop they want (mainly because I'd probably forget by the time I get to that stop!) and that happens quite a lot on the 208s in my experience

Oh right, since you said it was in hand to be fixed I assumed the details were already known! Glad I could be of service!

It was already in hand what I meant I was interested to read your comments as someone actually doing the job. Oh right, since you said it was in hand to be fixed I assumed the details were already known! Glad I could be of service!

Oh right, I see
It still takes me by surprise sometimes though. The other day I was on a standby and the controller asked me to take a bus out of the garage and start at Crofton Lane towards Lewisham. Signed everything on correctly, completely forgot about iBus, assuming it would take care of itself, and went out to Crofton Lane. Picked someone up at the first stop, '208 to Petts Wood,' says iBus, said someone comes back and asks if I'm only going to Petts Wood. Had to tell him to ignore the announcements and then turned them off

Paul, Just want to know if any problem with ibus bug? but ... why first driver to come off and it did ibus correct but when second driver take over and ibus was off with two dots in corner when off toward Orpington leave at the crown. Was second driver didn't bother put ibus on? Just wondering!
Why can't ibus people need to sort it out with ur TB garage about route 208's problem. funny enough, it was my local route. sometime one working, one don't, one working, one don't. things go on!!!
I hope it should fixed soon as possible. Noone want to feel let down or feel horrible that Route 208 ever do!
btw, is there problem with Countdown as well. i was waiting at Civic Centre bus stop. it NEVER show on countdown of route 208. All other are working fine!!! I wondering if that still problem as well as ibus system!!!

Like I said, as far as I'm aware there is no official guidance on what we're supposed to be doing with iBus on the 208s. So it's simply down to what each driver feels is best. Personally, if it's showing the correct destination I'll turn it on but perhaps some drivers feel its simpler if it just stays off
As regards the Countdown, I'd noticed that as well while waiting to take over a bus. I'm not sure whether Countdown is linked to iBus, but I'd assume it was, hence why the 208s aren't on Countdown

As far as I am aware Countdown is linked to ibus so this is the reason its not showing. As we have spoken about on here before I believe that now with ibus Countdown is far more reliable in its predictions Like I said, as far as I'm aware there is no official guidance on what we're supposed to be doing with iBus on the 208s. Don't speak too soon Mark. We had these problems earlier this year only for the problems to be fixed and then come back. Let's give it a while before we say everything's fine!
