Here's a short clip of one of the E400s in HK (the Citybus one to be precise). It's sounds more Euro 3-ish than euro 5 when accelerating in 1st gear.

This sounds more of a Euro 3 bus than Euro 5 I thought so. It's definitely on ZF as far as I can see; I'm sure that it'll be a monster when it thrashes along some of those 60 mph roads with kickdown.

Interesting video there. This sounds more of a Euro 3 bus than Euro 5 Really, sounds just like euro 5 ZF e400s. It doesn't give that distinct roar/growl when it accelerates. Try listening to it at 43 seconds and you might just notice the resemblance.

Nope, still sounds like a Euro V, 6 Speed ZF e400 to me. You also need to remember that their buses may sound slightly different to UK Buses. For example, I think the ALX500 Tridents that are in Hong Kong have a slightly different Voith gearbox to Tridents over here because there slight differences between the sounding of a Euro II Hong Kong Voith Trident and a Euro II UK Voith Trident.

You're probably right just there, it's undoubtedly a new type of ZF gearbox. Could my ears be deceiving me?
