Being in Walthamstow for most of the week, I've got plenty of chances to check out both the 212 and W12. I hope that the Omnicities on the former are an improvement.

Why, what has First done so wrong. I really do not understand this ill feeling to them. That doesn't make sense, you either like them or you don't. Whats so different from CT Plus' Omnicity DD's to any other? I can answer both for you. The first question, well First are awful. I've never had a good thing to say about them, well, other than Greeny. Other than that, i really don't like them. London is the better operation for them, but outside it's another story. Vehicles are filthy, maintenance is poor, drivers are rude and blinds end up absolutely disgraceful. No, i'm not on about Metroline, but First ;D The second, granted the comfort specs on the Omnicity can't really change due to its weight, but i prefer the ELBG ones for their materialistic appeal. In other words, they look smarter inside and out compared to say Go-Ahead or Transdev examples. I was on about First London, First everywhere else are just like Metroline, a disgrace. To me, an Omnicity is the same attractive but extremely uncomfortable bus no matter who the operator is.

How - it's basically the same livery as that carried by other operators' Omnicities in London... (excluding the Go-Away Docklands Omnicities of course ) I had a ride on SD7 on the 212 today. The Omnicity looked really good in CT Plus livery ;D. And i like the logo saying this bus is operated by CT Plus

I love ct plus generally excellent service etc only complaints about them is quite a few times 153s are run 5mins earlier than timetable at night e.g a bus is supposed to arrive at the stop outside sainsbury's (towards finsbury park) at 9 06pm it normally turns up at 9 01pm (it happened just now aswel btw) also the x reg caetano's are bull and so uncomfortable, 153 really needs new buses. As for first the do well with the routes i use regularly (the 10 before they lost it 23, 31, 259, 341 and 476, D6) plus other routes the 58 though they should have lost!

It's the odd cosmetic detail that makes it different for me, like the headlight surround colour differences plus the black bit above the upper deck front windows which is missing on the ELBG ones but i agree with you on them all being the same. Still say the ELBG interior is the best though ;D

To me, an Omnicity is the same attractive but extremely uncomfortable bus no matter who the operator is. I really agree with you there, they are quite decent to look at, just the comfort lets it down as well as the build quality. Also, a friend of mine who has no interest in buses whatsoever (an average passenger), complained about the standard seats on them when we used the 64 last week - describing them as 'thin uncomfortable plastic'. Edit - Just changed 'comfortability' to 'comfort', on a note taken from Bighat.

I know that the grammar gestapo go a bit OTT sometimes. But the more I see the word COMFORTABILITY, the more I have the urge to comment. The word should be, and is, COMFORT, pure and simple! Sorry, rant over!

I have nothing against First bus ... In this part of East London they have been operating since 1991 with former owners (capital) Ensign) .. I do echo John's views of dirty old crappy buses ... rude drivers etc ... Refreshing to see smaller operator's getting routes ... CT Plus are expanding nice but I would like to see them win more routes or even another small company get routes in this part of london

I agree with what HA2215 says. First do seem to have that reputation, although I haven't had any serious problems with them. Also, I agree with having more small operators (It was a shame when Docklands Buses and Blue Triangle were absorbed into Go-Ahead), especially CT Plus which are a social enterprise, helping local charities and communities.

I have heard that former Go Ahead LDP8 and PDL8 will be acquired by CT Plus as refurbishment. LDP8 will become DPS1 and PDL8, HTP5.
Heres the orginal quote I heard... A refurbishment programme on incumbent buses has lead to the short term lease, from Ensignbus of DPS1 (R508 RYM) a Dennis Dart SLF / Plaxton pointer, ex LDP8 and Dennis Trident / Plaxton President HTP5 (X608 EGK) ex PDL8

Take from today's metro newspaper:
"A mother is fuming after being told she did not qualify for a job because she was white. Marion Ryan applied to be a passenger assistant at a bus company but was turned away after being told the post was avalible only to people of "mixed race, Afro-Carribean or Asian Origin". The mother of 4 has now accused the London Company of racism. "What they were saying didn't register at first but then I realised they were telling me i couldn't do the job because of the colour of my skin," she said. "You shouldn't be allowed to do that - It's discrimination. Everybody should be given the right to try out for jobs." Mrs Ryan, 40, Visited Hackney Community Transport's (CT Plus) head office in East London to be told they were looking only for candidates of mixed race, Afro-Carribbean or Asian backgrounds. "I'm so angry and upset. I have never heard or seen anything like this," she said. HCT (CT Plus) admitted the incident happened but Mrs Ryan has mistakenly been given false information that she was ineligible."We have been trying to get hold of her to say she is eligible and to apologise," said HCT spokesman Frank Villeneuve-Smith"
I think HCT was being a bit stupid there. Feel sorry for her as i know how it would feel if they turn down a offer

Thats incredibly stupid! How can the staff get confused false information like that? CT Plus obviously have just quickly said that she is now eligible to try and avoid punishments.
