Looks like there hasn't much news lately on what type of SD would go on the W5, seeing that it's gonna go to CT Plus next month. Seems like CT Plus have a habit of keeping single decker orders quiet! ;D LOL, they're being a little bit TOO quiet. It's gonna have to be a surprise when I pop by Sainsbury's on the day I guess! ;D

Hopefully not solo's, with CT plus you never know what they could order could order 8.9m E200 Evolutions for all we know.

I have a feeling that it's gonna be Enviros of some sort. There isn't much standing room on the Solos so CT Plus could use those but it can be messy at busy times. It's funny because I've seen one of their OSs go in and out of the Arena Shopping Park a few months ago, presumably for route training. I shouldn't be too surprised if these new mystery SDs are being delivered late and I find a few of these OSs popping up!

Over the past week I have also seen different CT plus solo's with a few officials in the Holloway and Archway area.

There is no 8.8m Evolution so that can be safely ruled out. Could be either Enviro 200's or Solos or an unlikely order of Streetlites which I hope for. If not, hopefully some excellent Solos instead.

I agree Streetlite is unlikely, and there must be some teething problems with them as Isle of Man has not gone ahead with its options (and it was the main launch customer) Realistically only sub 9m choice is e200 or solo

Thanks for that VJ I didn't know that they didn't have a mini Evolution, never mind as long as it's not your horrid solo's and hopefully your enemy the adl e200.

Nothing longer than 8.9m can go around the W5 route as there are too many tight turns due to parked cars which the current 8.8m pointers just about navigate around, on a few occasions a couple years back when I have been on the route the drivers have had to reverse or beep + make alot of noise to get people out of their houses lol in order to navigate turns.

I have seen at least 2 solos out in service today on the W5. (first day of CT plus operation)
I wasn't up close to have a good look, but they seemed brand new to me (or at the very least freshly repainted).

They are brand new 8 were ordered 6 are delivered so far. I took pics of OS12 at Harringay, Sainsbury's OS10 was also there will upload the photos to my flickr soon the regs are YJ60PFx, btw as I left OS11 was coming in. These Solos seat 23 and claim to carry 31 standees at 8.8m I don't belive that some how as when OS12 left Harringay all the seats were filled up and about 10 people standing at there didn't look like there was enough room for another 10 standing let alone 21.

Just had a look at OS12, it definitely looks smaller than the DLMs. Will be interesting to see how they handle the school load though.

I wonder how long it will take before CT Plus start intermixing the Solos between the W5 and W12 ;D

Aparently one of the Solo's off the W12 was on the W5 today as cover as two solos are still yet to be delivered for the W5, believed to be OS15/16. The solo's on the W12 are 7.8m and are too small for the W5 route, also in the flesh those solo's on the W5 look longer than a the same lentgh E200, maybe looks like that because of the front overhang. Mind you I wish optare would change the solo design, Optare are one of the laziest manufacturers I know of in terms of rereshing the looks of their buses.
the spectra had the same design from 1992 to 2005. the solo has the same design since 1998 were now in 2011.
