What has happend to the Hail and Ride announcements on the iBus.
I remember on the 397, it used to announce the 'Forest Side Hail & Ride', but now it just shows the next stop (Chingford Station).
Also, it just shows the next stop for the 491 as well, so im guessing its like this for all routes with a hail and ride section.
So, why did they get rid of it? It would be much more useful if it was announced as some people might not realise some sections are hail and ride.

On the 233 they have added "Hail and Ride Starts Here" and "Hail and Ride Ends Here" on the section along Longlands Road and just plain "Hail and Ride" between them, however the announcement says "Hail and Ride Starts Here, Hail and Ride Starts after this Stop" and "Hail and Ride Ends Here, Hail and Ride Ends after this stop", surely the second bit of the announcement isn't needed.

The 499 is an odd route where one Hail and Ride section has this announcement, whereas the other two do not. I suspect one could be a candidate for fixed stops (Pettits Lane) while the other would be impossible to implement this with

Last time I was on a 366 there were no announcements about H&R, and I don't ever remember any...

Last time I was on a 366 there were no announcements about H&R, and I don't ever remember any... Correct. Hail and Ride announcements have NEVER been made on vehicles on this route, either on the 'Redbridge loop' or the Sunnyside Road/Eton Road sections. The iBus shows the two fixed stops/terminus at Redbridge (Vista Drive and Falmouth Gardens), and on the Ilford part, the next fixed beyond the Hail and Ride section always shows.

On my local route (the 192), stops are announced as normal until the stop before the Hail and Ride section begins. Then it says "Glover Drive Tesco and IKEA. Hail and Ride section starts after this stop".
During the Hail and Ride section, the only words displayed on the iBus screen are "Hail & Ride section". When the end of the Hail and Ride section approaches, the announcement "Edmonton Green Police station. Hail and ride section ends at this stop" is announced and the words "Edmonton Green Police Station" are displayed on the screen.

As I think I said a while ago all the "Hail and Ride" routes will be undergoing a review.

As I think I said a while ago all the "Hail and Ride" routes will be undergoing a review. Review?? It needs to be abolished!!! Ok, granted, there are some roads that you really cannot put a fixed stop on. But most of them you can, and passengers are almost always picked up or dropped off at exactly those points anyway! Some of the routes I drive definitely could do with fixed stops. For example, the B12 along the Parsonage Manorway and Carlton Road. Once upon a time these roads actually had fixed stops (anyone remember the 122A?). They were removed when the B12 was introduced in 1988. What for?? There are even shelters, bay markings and cut-down posts for the timetable displays in places along this stretch, and outside Erith District Hospital. Why not go the whole hog and put the flags up too?? There are some routes where passengers really take the proverbial with the system too. Ok, rant over! Just thought I'd give my two pennies worth on the subject. I could go on.... But I won't!

To clarify its the ibus on hail and ride that is being reviewed. In fairness I think hail and ride was a way of introducing routes to new roads in many parts of London. If fixed stop had been proposed I suspect that many routes would not be as they are today because of local objections. I certainly used to travel on the 122A until it was withdrawn in 1988 as part of Bexleybus. Not sure why Parsonage Manorway had stops removed - it wouldn't happen now as things are more centrally controlled. Some routes had gone over to fixed stop as part of accessibility measures. Route K1 springs to mind. As I think I said a while ago all the "Hail and Ride" routes will be undergoing a review. Review?? It needs to be abolished!!! I always thought the hail and ride on that section was weird when we had the route, as for the shelter outside Erith Hospital, the bus doesn't even go past that bit, although it was a good place to sit to kill time on a late turn

Still no flag though, it's the only thing missing!

Shows how long it is since I was on a B12 Often use it if I go to Bexleyheath on a day off as I always seem to come home at School kicking out time and the B12 is quieter than the 229 Another route that had it's hail and ride changed to fixed stops is the 386 I remember it used to be hail and ride around Kidbrooke (when I lived there), was great walking out the front door to see the bus coming down the road and being able to just stop it ;D although they never seemed to stop near my house when I wanted to get off I really do think the B12 (both sections) and the B11 could be converted to fixed stops, as faithless says most people get on and off in the same place anyway.

Lodge Hill had all the pavement work done for fixed stop then it was scrapped. Yeah, they've now moved that shelter into Hind Crescent and painted a bus stop bay in the road.
