LOTs TLB is reporting that the 8 OPL solos at Epsom on route 470 are being replaced by 8 new 9m E200MMCs I assume the solos are going off lease after 5 years (presumably an expensive lease or because they are non standard) I’m not really sure why 9.7m buses are being replaced by shorter 9m buses Hmm, this is interesting. OS20255 is leased, and since the 404 is up for tender and this news has come to light that they want to return the longer solos to their lessors, I’d imagine that Quality Line would want to return OS20255 off lease, but wouldn’t this increase their bidding price and put them at a greater risk of losing the 404? Unless whatever they plan for the bid ends up being cheaper than the lease would have been

Makes note to do the 470 before the Solos disappear. I am really tired of rattly, shaking on/off engine MMCs.

I am really tired of rattly, shaking on/off engine MMCs. I would guess that identical buses (9m E200MMCs) would be ordered for TV route K4 which was retained a month ago if this is some form of corporate standardisation. But rumours are the 10.6m and 12m single decks will be Citaro with super capacitor mild hybrid, but will have to wait for details on that.

Huge shame, quirky and unique vehicles being replaced by bog standard E200s 😴😴😴😴😴
And very strange that they would get vehicles with a reduction in capacity. Do 9.7m E200s not fit? 🤔

Why the 9 vehicle gap in fleet numbering? The new E200MMCs for 470 have been allocated SDE20287-20294, so this pair got next numbers 20295-20296

I don't think it would be done solely for that reason, probably more to do with leasing/running costs of the Solo's?

True, but why not just order the next length up with dual doors to maintain capacity.

The 3 new VWs and 4 new ADHs are now expected in February. You mean VHs right?

Is there any progress on the new BYD K9 MMC's for route 70/C1? It looks like the vehicles for the 153 will be completed earlier despite being ordered later.

I think someone mentioned it was now about May-July rather than early 2018 (can’t remember who) BYD have recently opened a factory in Komarom, Hungary, they will be building the chassis for ADL bodies Production is still be ramped up (which may be reason for delay), although if not yet sufficient capacity could have built them in China
