London Underground are planning to virtaully withdraw the District line Olympia shuttle on Monday-Friday.
From the December timetable change LU are to withdraw the Monday-Friday Olympia service (a few early morning and evening peak trains will still run from/to Olympia on Mon-Fri). This to free up paths through Earls Court and to operate more trains on the Wimbledon branch.
The normal weekend frequency to Olympia will remain and a special frequency will run when a weekday event is on at the Olympia exhibition hall.
Following the major upgrade to the NLL (Overground) via Olympia more passengers have been using the NLL trains instead of the LU Olympia service. From May 2011 even more Overground trains will run via Kensington Olympia creating an every 15 minute frequency. West Brompton provides an alternative interchange to/from the District Line.
"This station is Stratford. Change here for the Jubilee Line, Docklands Light Railway and National Rail services. This is a Central Line train to Woodford via Hainault. Stand clear of the closing doors."
It always is a Woodford via Hainault train... except when you actually want one!
