Arriva has taken over the running of all bus services in malta. They have tried to train all the local drivers who ran and owned thier own buses on the island, but arriva has ran into a brick wall.On the first day of operation 70 drivers failed to turn up,it was a shambles,so arriva has turned to uk drivers and sent them to malta until this all gets sorted out.Scottish drivers from arrivas 2 depots in inchinnan and johnstone are already there with 9 supervisors. www.timesofmalta.com/articles/view/20110127/local/new-buses-for-malta.347357

Greeny, i know some of Bromley's Stagecoach drivers refuse to reverse the bus as its the job of the shunter and some refuse to turn the blinds as its the job of the VAS, yet the drivers job is also to make sure all windows are closed when its parked up for the wash when they bring it in but alot dont.

Dont want to seem stupid here, but what is vas? at stockwell i noticed that the garage staff changed the destos. As a small town guy i was amazed at that,i did everything.I was in charge of the vehicle, and you saw me b4 i went out,and you answered to me if i saw a problem, and i said fix it m8,and if i felt i would be late off my first terminal point i would report to traffic(output down there?)and ask for a change of vehicle.

VAS is a Stagecoach term for Vehicle Allocation Supervisor, they appear to allocate buses and attend/substitute broken buses to evaluate the situation for the engineers. Only happen to know as I bumped into one last year and asked the same question ;d

See I'll quite happily drive backwards and close the windows before it goes through the wash. I have to check the bus anyway so it doesn't hurt to close the windows on the way through.

How do your feet reach the pedals if you are backwards greeny?
