Whilst looking at the pic of the new VW for the 79, I saw this interesting picture www.flickr.com/photos/jongraham890/6322904961/in/photostream/Does anyone know where the YJ61 reg Pulsar is heading to. I know that the NK61 reg bus is going to Arriva North East but I've got a sneaky feeling that the YJ61 Pulsar is for Arriva Southern Counties. With new Arriva vehicles, you usually can tell a bit about where it's going judging by the registration plate .

YJ is a Yorksire registration ... pretty sure this is 1 of 2 due for Arriva Yorkshire *EDIT* looking at the fleet number it would seem to be for Arriva Midlands ... Southern counties already has a Pulsar with that number

The vehicle concerned is for the Arriva Midlands fleet as its registration and fleetnumber follows on from similar vehicles in that fleetnumber range on the fleet list for ARRIVA MIDLAND on the WMbus photos site.

As mentioned slightly elsewhere, so far 2 Versa's have arrived for the 402, both registered in Luton. Another 3 are due for the 402 and 1 probably for the 6.
4213 - KX61 FHN 4214 - KX61 FHM

No official press release by Arriva nor McGills seems to have been made, but the BBC and other sites are reporting that agreement has been reached for McGills to take over Arriva Scotland West in the early part of next year.
Lots of former London buses in service up there with ASW. Arriva bus operations will cease in Scotland.
Wonder if Arriva will scavenge the few newer buses in the fleet for other operations?

Perhaps they can get a few single deckers for the 318 if they're OK ;D I assume most of the stock will just transfer to McGills

Most of the Arriva Scotland buses consist of Scania N113DRB's & lots of Darts mainly with ALX200 & Pointer bodies, though a few Crusaders transferred from Arriva The Shires. My hunch is that the newest buses will transfer over to McGills as well otherwise surely that brings the price down?

McGill’s Bus Services is buying the Arriva Scotland West - including its two depots in Johnstone and Inchinnan - in a deal which is expected to be completed by late February. It will mean McGill’s taking on Arriva’s routes, as well as all of its 380 staff and the 165 buses. It will almost double McGill’s staff and fleet. McGill’s MD - Ralph Roberts - is the former MD of the Arriva Scotland West business. He left Arriva in March 2010 to join McGills. Stunned Arriva staff and management were called to the Glynhill Hotel and Normandy Hotel, in Renfrew, to be told about the takeover plans. Neither company is willing to disclose the price of the deal but both have confirmed there will be no immediate redundancies, under the Transfer of Undertakings Protection of Employment (TUPE) regulations. McGills and Arriva compete on a number of routes, leading to fears of job losses - if only by natural wastage - in the future. Regional Managing Director Nigel Featham said the offer from McGill’s was too good to refuse: “The team at Arriva Scotland West have been a real part of their local community and have strived over the past 18 months to put the business on a stronger commercial footing in the face of increasing costs and the wider economic impact of the recession. “There was, however, limited opportunity to grow this relatively-isolated part of Arriva’s UK bus business and the offer received represents good value for Arriva.” Ralph Roberts said: “Upon completion, the transaction will give McGill’s a perceptible strategic advantage for future growth and development of our business, both in Renfrewshire and further afield. “The senior team at McGill’s will work closely with Arriva Scotland West management to ensure as seamless a transfer for staff and, ultimately, for passengers, as possible.”

You also have to remember that mcgills already operate between a 5 and 10 min service on most of arrivas routes in and around the renfrew- paisley area,so most of arrivas fleet arent needed by mcgills, although they may take a few,i suspect most will be laid up or sold off.Ive already been told there will be a lot of vehicle transfers to come.
