Bus service proposal: routes B16 and 178
Overview
The Ferrier Estate in Kidbrooke is currently being redeveloped. This involves moving all residents, demolishing the existing estate and rebuilding it as Kidbrooke Village. Bus routes 178 and B16 serve the estate.
Route 178 operates between Woolwich and Lewisham and route B16 operates between Bexleyheath and Kidbrooke. In Kidbrooke both routes currently run in a loop via Tudway Road, Moorehead Way, and Weigall Road.
As part of the Masterplan for Kidbrooke Village a new road layout will be introduced. It has been designed so that buses would run directly along Kidbrooke Park Road, with improved walking links from bus stops to other parts of the Village. The developer, Berkeley Group, will be responsible for managing the road network in the area apart from Kidbrooke Park Road.
Why we are consulting
Route 178 (Woolwich – Lewisham Bus Station)
Route 178 runs between Woolwich and Lewisham every 15 minutes Monday to Saturday daytimes and every 20 minutes during evenings and Sundays.
Route B16 (Bexleyheath – Kidbrooke Station)
Route B16 runs between Bexleyheath and Kidbrooke every 15 minutes Monday to Saturday daytimes and every 30 minutes during evenings and Sundays.
We have developed proposals for routes 178 and B16 to accommodate the changes to the road network and would like to hear your views.
It is proposed to reroute the 178 and B16 via Kidbrooke Park Road in both directions from summer 2012 on a permanent basis. Four new stops will be located on Kidbrooke Park Road. Most areas of Kidbrooke Village will be within 400 metres of the bus network. Buses would no longer serve Weighall Road, Moorhead Way and Tudway Road.
Please refer to the map below for more detail.
