The E200s on the 298 are fast easily hit 60mph especially on the downhill run on Cockfosters road. Uphill is about 48-51mph.

Interesting to know that, thanks. That's one question I'll get on my theory ;D Sorry, just spoken to uncle about this, an amendment - cars can do 70mph on dual carriageways and motorways, buses can do 70mph on motorways only, and 60mph on dual carriageways. I failed - nah I'm playing ;D Again, thanks for both pieces of info

I don't have a problem.... Ease up there Mr defensive!!!! I obviously didn't understand your "hence the blinds" bit!!! I just think you should be a little more careful with what you post on the Internet. Wouldn't wanna get anyone in trouble. Don't look for arguments where there ain't one mate. 😉 Sorry No problem dude.

VLA149- Streatham Hill to Brixton (route 159) at a cool 35 mph this morning. VLA161- Also hit 35 mph at Melfort Road (route 50), making mouse-like squeaks when breaking.

Haven't really been following this thread so apologies if this has already come up but presumably we'd put the old GAL ELSs in the unclapped out category. Sampled a few today, went like bats out of hell, all of them

Sampled a few today, went like bats out of hell, all of them Love the Scania Omnitown. Shame their body rattles so much. Very decent bus, plenty of life in them yet I'd suggest but only another 18 odd months left on the 42's contract so can't imagine they'll be around a huge amount of time. Agree on the body rattling, standard Scania. Worth it though given the large windows you get with East Lancs

VLA71 has a very decent pullaway for an Arriva Voith, as good as the average Abellio Volvo...which appear to have had some sort of engine management update.

DW61- nippy and healthy DW66- sounding much better than before, it's like a sauna inside, so that's one thing that works on this bus. iBus display upstairs is f'ed up. DLA339- I had a pleasant ride on this one this afternoon, restricted but quite fast after a few gear changes, nicely refurbished, makes the lovely 'weesh' sound that DLA209 makes at around 10 mph, sounds more like a Euro 2 DLA than a Euro 3 one. DLA209- having trouble opening it's rear door, it was funny to see people belly-flop the doors expecting them to open! ;D
