All of First's new Enviro 300's are likely to be boring 6 spd ZF examples Whereas the Streetlite only comes with a Voith box ;D Oh shut up. I find the Voith whine really irritating, whereas the ZF sound is much more sublime and musical. I much prefer the Voith whine, I find the ZF a bit boring. Each to their own.

On the other hand, I've yet to find a bus where I hate Voith on it

The Voith whine is really irritation when the bus is idling, it sounds more like a continuous whimper.

The new Citaros though are gods when revved.

Voith buses are generally dreary and boring to listen to especially when its a B9TL (bar the euro 4 VEs at putney garage). Also when a voith bus is underpowered it is painful listening to the bus screaming in first gear a example of this is the darn awful 55reg metroline DLDs quite frankly the worst single deckers in london right now imo.
B7TLs imo sound better on voith generally, B9TL, Euro 4/5 Trident total opposite they sound better on ZF. MAN sound good on either, 4 cylinder cummins engined single decks like E200s/streetlites sound awful on voith imo (vjaska I know you disagree already with most of what I am saying here as your a voith lover)
Metrolines 12reg Voith B9TLs are foul! seriously boring, no character (makes the ZF versions sound good) the 62reg voith sound some what better but are still horrid.
In general apart from MANs, B7RLEs, SB200s which are on voith and euro 4 scanias. I prefer hybrid buses well only B5LHs, E400Hs especially the older (58reg) E400 hybrids and DB300 hybrids and E200 Hybrids.

Voith sounds better in Tridents and B7TLs if you ask me, the PVLs at A for the 213 are nice and fast, but sound dull compared to my favourite PVLs (the ones now on the 270 and 280). The Voith Tridents on the 122 also sound good though they have very little power. The Voith Enviro200 on the 314 also sound nice, though the Voith Darts on the 214 sounded pretty awful. To be honest with the B9TL they're pretty dull whatever gearbox they have. I do prefer the sound of ZF-boxed earlier Enviro400 though the recent Voith-boxed Enviro400 sound nice.
Funnily enough I don't think hybrids sound that bad. I like the electric whirr they have, which is especially noticeable on the B5Ls. Any bus which can get speed through Central London is fine by me.

I like anything on Voith, love the screaming and wailing they make even in low gears - it gives them so much character. I like some ZF buses such as Tridents (my favourite Tridents are on ZF), Enviro 400's, Volvo B10M's, certain B7TL batches, Scania's, Euro I DB250's but there are some I find boring such as MAN's, B9TL's, Cummins Olympians.

I loved the Voith MMs that were on the 232, but the 4-cyl Darts do sound they are struggling... Stagecoach have gotten Optare to make Voith versions of the Versa Sent from my GT-I9100 using proboards
