Why are some ultimates all on one line eg: "Hounslow Bus Station" and others eg: have the Ultimate larger with the qualifying point on 2 lines eg: "Willesden Bus Garage." To my mind, this is a lot easier to read as on the 281's TA's Hounslow Bus Station is very squashed to get it all into 1 line

TfL wont care what we think about blinds... They might be clearer with the LED backlights... Though we should just cut to the chase and fit LED blinds themselves Sent from my GT-I9100 using proboards I can't see why LED can't be used on buses when they're already used on the capital's DLR, London Underground/Overground and the Croydon trams. Surely they are all susceptible to the same sunlight glares as the buses. Many bus blinds in London are harder to see at night than with any visual problems LEDs may show in the day. I often travel to Brighton and never had any problem with visual displays on their LED equiped buses. +1 I wait to see how the b&w ones look at night... Having moved to Wood Green, I should get to see the 144's new DWs, hopefully with B&W... I do think LED is better but we have wasted cash on 600 boris buses no one wants aside from one member... ;D Sent from my GT-I9100 using proboards

Could be down to the operator as Metrobus and Abellio have Croydon Town Centre on one line, whereas Arriva has town centre on 2 lines at the side.

The SLEs on the 267 seem to use a much smarter-looking arrangement with smaller text underneath the main blind. Meanwhile, some blinds like "Belvedere Industrial Area" look rather squashed though some of the buses on the 108 have "Industrial Area" in smaller font, and some don't.

Those style blinds on the SLE's are being phased out as we speak! Some of them have now got new blinds while the remaining will get them soon. There are probably several instances of different operators using different displays for the same destination, like: - London United and Abellio have "Hounslow Bus Station" in one line whereas Metroline have it "Hounslow, Bus Station" i.e. with qualifier (whatever that small text at the end is called). Same with "Southall Town Hall", where London United use one line and First/Metroline use qualifier. - First and London United display "Shepherd's Bush" whereas Metroline have "Shepherd's Bush Green". Like you said, probably preference

Like you said, probably preference I found that arrangement a very practical one so it's a shame it's on the way out. I'm not sure what the need is to squash everything onto one line when an arrangement like that would make the smaller text at the end easier to see. I also wonder if two-line arrangements like those could alleviate some of the more crowded blind arrangements like "Queen Elizabeth Hospital" or "City Thameslink Station" by putting them on two lines - though that's more of a personal dislike of cramped and hard-to-read destination blinds.

Where can i get that squashed font? More than likely to be a condensed version of Johnston font, I might have it or if not if you use photoshop you can play about with the font width. Also I noticed the Romford North Street Garage blind might be replaced by just Romford North Street going by one of the transferred LWB Tridents the other day, Not that it could mean at least 2 different places

A lot of blinds have station removed from them it makes the overall destination look more eye catching. The best looking destination with a long name on a smart blind is Lewisham Station.

Seen these a lot this week (on 386 and 291) and they look ok in Daylight (no better or worse than the yellow on black) however at night there awful (probably down to the poor blind lighting on the E200's) back to the drawing board I think.

I knew this would happen long before Leon Daniel's reign, in the early 90's, this was the reason they went to dayglo blinds Let's see if the LED backlit ones are any better

The white on black blinds on some of the 291 and 386 Enviro's look quiet good and clear. It could be because they are new though. I agree with LC1, I thought the day glow blinds were introduced to do with some DDA requirements and as LC1 says people with colour blindness. The NBFL on route 38 I sore had white on black blinds.

Noticed one today and the destination blind was missing...the lights is quite bright on it's own so not sure why they are so poor with a blind in front of them
