Now don't get me wrong I have no problem with people taking photos of buses but I see something silly today!
I went down to check out the new 573 at Prince Regent Station and I witness a enthusiast stood in the road of the bus station on a bend.
How silly? I mean a bus driver wouldn't be expecting somebody to be in the road as they turn into the station.
Why do people taking silly risks to get a snap?

People allow their enthusiasm to get the better of themselves. People lose all sense of control in their pursuit of the perfect photo. I have lost count of the number of times that I have seen people do incredibly stupid things. The problem is that all enthusiasts then get tarred with the same brush and we're all assumed to be lunatics which is why any special event sees officials and police out to try to corral the idiots. This then ruins it for everyone else. A classic was the Ensignbus running day at Lakeside a couple of years back where the police "got the hump" because enthusiasts had lined up on the roundabout just before the bus station to get some snaps. The police then spent the morning growling at anyone with a camera. I rarely bother with running days and events these days - it's too much stress trying to dodge both the loonies and the officials.

I'm confident I know who this may be, I shall contact them off group and suggest some words of wisdom.

The driver of VLP23 on the 292 clearly had an issue with me taking a pic of his bus - he kept staring at me in disbelief straight after I took the pic - he even pulled away watching me rather than the road

They look at me and should be watching the road!

It depends on the road you are standing in, but no road is safe. I sometimes stand in the road but I only do it when I know it is safe to do so. I am one guilty of doing this. Sometimes I do it in Eltham High Street as the road is quite wide in the middle of the road, but I hardly photograph down there, I avoid it. I pretend I am crossing the road. I would only go down there to do particular routes where particular buses are. Such as 233, 321, B15 & B16. I could easily snap 126, 162 & 314 all in Bromley. 160 on Sangley Road which is a five min walk. Reason I do it is because Eltham Bus Station has pure E200s now and at the First stop as annoying glares spoils the shot. I have recently found though that Sidcup High Street is more quiet to do the 233 & 321. This here is an a example there was barely any moving traffic at this time as well. B15

I see that a few weeks ago and just thought what a complete idiot. You at least glance back regularly if you going to stand that close to the edge.

Well yes but there was also the numpty who had his tripod on the rails! The bloke who nearly got flattened was not on the platform. He was the wrong side of a level crossing which I believe is illegal (happy to be corrected). It's no wonder the authorities "get the hump" when grown men can't control themselves.

The trouble is that people dont use common sense and allow their excitement to over power their common sense. That then leads officials to be over-zealous and in turn spoils things for the rest of us. Sometimes the "yellow jacket army" make things more dangerous by not allowing sensible use of photography, meaning that people then take more risks (Victoria seems to be a hot spot for this)
