i am guessing this don't include DM which no doubt will be closed! Your jumping the gun, all we know is it continues to operate under First. Well I did say I am "guessing" but do you really think this is the case? it sells all it's other London garages but keeps the one with the biggest loss of work?

Theres also an announcement on the First website, says pretty much the same thing. Does anyone think DM might be taken over by First out of London? I wonder who would've got NP if it hadn't been sold to Go-Ahead.

I am very disappointed by this. It wipes out competition in west London. Apart from Abellio who have a tiny base at Hayes, Transdev - whose depots are full , and Arriva the Shires , there is no effective competition in Ealing, Hillingdon, Harrow and Brent London Boroughs. Transit company will probably be bought out within two years by another big group , they can surely have no international plans and have just bought the depots that Metroline didn't want, in the hope that it would make them attractive to an international bidder. Overall, a sad day for London Buses I think. Am wondering if TfL stipulated that the garages operating central London routes had to be sold off seperatly to avoid Metroline having too big a share of central London work.

Perhaps the few remaining DM routes (not including the ones to be lost): the 58, 193, 368 and 498 will just be moved to LI and lumped in with the LI sale. Its only around 40 buses (including spares)..hardly worth a sale in its own right...

Also the 58 is not run from DM only 1 trip on a Friday afternoon I don't think LI will have space with 425 in August.

No problem with first as an operator.....but will be glad to see the back of those ghastly internal colours on the seats etc even though they'll be around for a long time yet.
As a side point, Transit Systems AU to operate RM's from X?!

Control could just pass to First Essex and DM operated as a low cost unit - similar to GY for Arriva.

Will be interesting to see if Transit Systems use their own name, or go the way of Macquarie and bring back old names...it'd be great to see the Centrewest/Gold Arrow and Capital Citybus brands

Also one wonders whats happening with DM as its not listed for sale. Also i guess Adrian Jones will not be going to Metroline but could go across with LI, X and AS to Transit Systems, but then that would give Berkshire no Managing Director as at the moment London and Berkshire are managed by the same Director.

Can't see first essex running DM as its too big a garage and too far from there operating area to be of use. No company except sullivans run any major non tfl routes with there tendered routes. I.e GY & DT which are now strictly TFL routes only. Also the DM drivers would possibly be the highest earning drivers out of first essex.

Woah, so on the 22nd they will finally cease all London operations. It's bizarre that First Group is surrendering all their operations, Will be interesting to see if Transit Systems use their own name, or go the way of Macquarie and bring back old names...it'd be great to see the Centrewest/Gold Arrow and Capital Citybus brands I really hope Capital Citybus brand returns.

The 79 will actually remain at PA. Its got a low cost per base, even lower than ON which is why it was on in the first place.
I expect that the fleetnames on some of the First vehicles will be removed. Its now the issue of sorting out the leased buses from the non leased buses. That's pretty much the reason why the Armchair vehicles and Thorpes vehicles kept their identity as there was not long term aim to keep the vehicles due to them being leased.
On the offset I'm really happy about this purchase, it means Metroline gain more work and has given them a chance to recover from their losses in 2011/12. Will be interesting to see them run my 487 and other routes I use such as the 18,83,223 ect.
Expect a CELF post soon.

None of the old brands will come back, hope they design a nice logo for the new brand

Well done to both companies for their gains. It will be sad to see First depart, but I guess they have decided that it is for the better of the business. Will be interesting to see what Metroline do with regards to fleet codes. Just remember that some members of this forum may be affected by the announcement today so be careful with what you post
