Ex Arriva London DLA283 (Y483UGC) is now at Arriva The Shires 6283. I have just seen it in High Wycombe. It's funny how buses live longer out of London.

Some of those Wycombe routes are a very good way to kill a bus already long in the tooth, especially if they aren't geared for hills. Not that this ever stopped Carousel putting out ex-LT Ms!

RTL358 for sale, needing quite a bit of work for an ideal person dedicated the task of working on her. This is the very bus that was used in that famous Some Mothers Do Ave Em episode where Frank Spencer grabs onto the back of it whilst out of control on roller skates. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/122212104364Incase some of us are too young to remember (or had never watched the show): youtu.be/FvTl-IBy_Nc

Am shocked to see WVL244 has been withdrawn and is now 'Thames Travel'. Repainted and with LED blinds. Looking at LVF, WVL242-WVL245 look to meet the same fate.

Indeed, those WVL's were withdrawn a few days ago. Shame to see them go - once they received their engine upgrade, they were really great vehicles

Am shocked to see WVL244 has been withdrawn and is now 'Thames Travel'. Repainted and with LED blinds. Looking at LVF, WVL242-WVL245 look to meet the same fate. Although it might seem a shocker, this is starting to become more common, two main reasons: it appears that TFL are indifferent to age of any euroIII (upgraded) bus. (There has been no tender awards for them for many months); secondly you need to see it from receiving bus companies standpoint. On the assumption that just about every bus is now DDA compliant (the last few non compliant double deckers have to be withdrawn in next 6 weeks), any bus company getting newer buses is modernising its fleet, therefore aren't going to want life expired buses. These WVLs are 10.5 years old, young enough to justify costs of repaint, new destination equipment etc. Older buses have little appeal as the remaining life does not offer much of a payback period to cover these purchase and conversion costs. The older WVLs will probably struggle to find a buyer (except the scrapyards). There was a market for replacing old non DDA buses but that is ending. The DDA deadline led to a replacement bubble, but having just replaced their fleets to meet the deadline, there is now likely to be no further demand for couple of years. My guess is old buses are worth more as parts, engines sent to Africa etc
