Can't quiet believe what just happened to me on a bus. Was on a 15 when around 10 young Asian guys being very loud and bullish, they took up all the seats around me being very hyper and talking about being high. After a few stops they started making reference to the white guy which I tried to ignore and carried on looking at phone then they started about eating fish and chips everyday by then I had enough and got up at next stop then they took the mick saying his getting of and going to wait for the next bus. Never felt so out of my comfort zone on a bus ever. Says it all about today’s society really - don’t let it get to you. I definitely agree with this 100%. I’ve noticed a severe lack of discipline with parents to their children in general which is why you get youths like these pop up. I’d just say ignore the remark and just laugh it off to be honest, they’re just ignorant at the end of the day

Has as been said, a reflection on our society today. I've had a similar situation, and as much as I'd like to give them a smack in the mouth, you don't know how they'll respond knife crime being what it is. I think to my self I know who my father was

I got shouted back at by a lady outside royal London hospital for telling her not to smoke (was with my baby and the lady was billowing smoke in general) when there was a big no smoking symbol and lettering right in front of her

From/to Victoria
C1 to Kensington Design Musuem 27 to Chiswick ( my last journey on 27 past Hammersmith 😡) H91 to Hounslow West 222 to Harlington Corner 105 to Heathrow Central Piccadilly Line to T5 N9 to Hammersmith (first LT trip on this route) 27 to Baker Street (last trip on the night 27 before it becomes pointless N27) N18 to Trafalgar Square 24 to Victoria
Several fare dodgers on the N9, including some who stayed on past the Heathrow free travel area.

Whilst the Heathrow free travel zone is a fantastic idea, how many people needing to transfer terminals really use London buses? There's little to no need for free travel to apply on the routes like the 285 for instance. The 285 only serves Heathrow Central and so is useless for trying to get between terminals. Having said that, don't Heathrow run a free shuttle bus between terminals? I believe they do. If the Piccadilly Line plays up and people are turfed off at Hatton Cross then the passengers affected can be given transfer tickets allowing them to get any bus to the terminal they require for free. In conclusion, the existence of Heathrow Express, TFL Rail, the Piccadilly Line and the free shuttle bus between terminals, having free travel on London buses in the Heathrow area creates more problems than it solves

Rather than pay the outrageous costs of the hotel hopper buses. Last night for example the 423 left T5 at about 0020 with a whole group of tourists and luggage !

It is intended for all sorts of travel within the Heathrow area, e.g. hotels to terminals (as rgd976 has mentioned) or offices to terminals. This cuts down on car trips within the zone and is well used by both airport workers and hotel customers.
For inter-terminal transfer you'd be more likely to use the Heathrow Connect or Heathrow Express (which are free between the terminals), or the tube (which is free so long as you have an Oyster or contactless card). Buses are only really of use if you happen to be travelling between T4 and T5.
Heathrow do provide airside inter-terminal buses but there is no dedicated landside shuttle.

Had a bit of an East London special yesterday pretty much to do the 128 and its VLAs before they go, so here’s what happened. Was meant to go last Monday but my car broke so had to postpone. LX05LLP | 262 LJ59ABZ | 173 LJ60AXN | 175 GN08CHH | 375 LJ09SUH | 103 SL64HYZ | 287 LX12DFN | 62 LJ59ADO | 368 LTZ2152 | EL2 LJ60ATZ | 150 SN57DWX | 364 LJ05GRF | 128
SN63JVZ | 179 SN16OJV | 145 LX11BHU | 257 YY66PKF | 277 BJ11EAY | D8 LJ61CDF | 158 SN11BPX | 69
Left Stratford for Beckton and as I was going down the steps from Westfield, I saw a Trident pulling round from the stand! So I absolutely legged it to get on it, couldn’t miss this is there is little time left for these now!! Was a lovely ride down to Beckton Bus Station where the main journey began. First was the 173 which was quite a dry route, not too much that’s very interesting about it. However I always love a fast run down a wide road, the A13 in this case. The A13 was empty in our direction but going towards Central London it was absolutely gridlocked. After the A13 it turned off and went towards Dagenham Heathway, where we caught up with another 173 directly in front of us. This meant the inevitable happened, at Dagenham Heathway Station: ‘the driver has been instructed to wait at this bus stop for a short time, to help even out the service’. He then announced he would be waiting for FIVE minutes! As soon as he said that cue a mass stampede of all 20-ish people getting off the bus to get the next. The 175 came about 30 seconds later, which was already packed pulling into the station. Me and all the other 173 passengers piled on, so when we left the bus really was rammed and remained so until about Becontree Heath. It‘s quite a nice route, quite residential and the bus despite being a 3-series DW it actually had quite a lot of power, even with a completely full load. Went to Romford Station. After this I planned to get the 103, but as soon as I got off out of nowhere a 375 pulled round so I had to make a deviation and get on it. Unbelievable luck for a route that runs every 90 minutes, only took a short ride on it but I’ll probably never have the chance to take it again so I took my chance while I had it. Next the 103 down to Rainham Station on freshly refurbished DW221. Took a quick snap of this bus as it waited for a little while at the lovely war memorial and the weather was beautiful www.flickr.com/photos/152265474@N02/40322669133 . Again this bus had A LOT of power (despite being a G2 DW) and this is quite a fast paced route so this route was a really good journey. Changed at Rainham for the 287 and got one of the newly transferred E40Ds from TL for the 252. Only two words to describe the 287. Absolutely awful, don’t even bother wasting your time on it. Horrid route, goes straight in as one of my most hated routes in London. After leaving Rainham memorial it’s just pure industrial wasteland. I got off at Barking Industrial Park opposite a very large Cemetery and changed to the 62. Again after clearing this awful industrial area the 62 is actually a really nice route, very relaxing trip as it was off-peak by this point and clearly outside of the peaks this route doesn’t have a great deal of demand. The bus was very quiet throughout and so was every oncoming 62. I really like Woodward Road and Valence Avenue, one road very narrow and the other very wide so made for a nice contrast After this was a 368, which is quite similar to the 62 running down similar parallel roads. An observation I made on this route was that the headways were absolutely perfect the whole time, Arriva have this route down to a *T* (pun intended) and the buses are really well presented too. EL2 on a boring LT. Luckily with none of the regulation nonsense that plagues the route most of the time. After a quick hop on the 150 to get to the 364, I took this on its hail and ride section to Ilford. I had SE31 which is probably the most abhorrent E200 I’ve ever been on, the withdrawal of these vehicles can’t come soon enough. There wasn’t a single part of it that wasn’t sounding normal, RR have clearly made no effort to maintain these at all. Lucky I got to the 364 when I did, a convoy of two 364’s appeared at once and the next one after those was 24 minutes away!! From Ilford, the main event of VLA135 on the 128. It was a brilliant bus, loads of power and a very loud gearbox. The part of the 128 I went on was the rural-ish section from Ilford to Claybury which was extremely nice especially the end part when it goes down the hill and you get a huge view of London, really really nice route and is a must-do before the B7TLs go. Took the 179 back to Ilford. After a quick stop for food in Ilford came the 145 over to Leytonstone and subsequently the 257 back to Stratford. The 145 was the first time I’d ever had a ticket inspector board a bus to make sure everyone paid. I always get really paranoid when I’ve had them ask to see my Oyster card on the tube/DLR, because knowing my luck when one comes over I’ll have lost my card somewhere lol. After that I went into Central London as I had some shopping to do and whilst I was at it snapped an H12 ADH on the 139 at Waterloo, a very very long way from its home route and garage. www.flickr.com/photos/152265474@N02/32348764827 After this I planned to go to Canary Wharf as I hadn’t been there for a while, but was scuppered as the Jubilee Line had problems, so took the more convoluted W&C then DLR over instead. By the time I got there it was 5:30 so the 277 I got on by that point was absolutely packed, down to Crossharbour so I could take a trip on the lovely D8 back to Stratford. The section through the new over the river and past the Novotel is absolutely brilliant. Finally before I went home I wanted to take a quick sample of an Arriva 158 but getting it was far from smooth. Won’t go into it in too much detail, as I have done already in the Arriva thread. A convoy of three 158’s meant the first one was to the point where you could barely move and the subsequent two were pretty much empty, I then headed back to Stratford on the 69 to go home
EDIT: forgot to mention when I got back to Stratford off the 69, I could scarcely believe my eyes at what I saw pulling out of the bus station! It was a D8 that was well over half full, with around 40 people on it!!! At around 7:30 in the evening too, this clearly isn’t the empty fresh air carrying route it used to be anymore, I wonder what’s caused this sudden spike in passenger numbers.

I did my driving lessons in east London recently and the 62 is everywhere along my practice routes so I want to do it end to end some day. The marks gate end is quite green! I have seen that pattern on the D8. For all the moaning I have done the D8 end to end some 15-20 times in the past 3 months! It used to be my private taxi initially (multiple times when I have been the only person on board 90% of the way) but nowadays gets fairly well loaded. Have seen 20+ passengers very regularly and even 30-49 people at times. Particularly, as shopping hours comes to a close at Westfield, it tends to load very well. That might explain why it gets more patronage

That might explain why it gets more patronage I wonder why though it took so long to get busy though, obviously the first week or two (like the 425) the loadings tend to be light as people get used to it but this took a good year and a half for loadings to pick up🤔

Either way, I’m glad the D8 is now getting a lot more patronage than before

Did the 473 end to end a couple of days back. Nice little route Ruth some good views in places. Wasn’t very busy but was a pretty quick journey to Stratford
Also did the d8 which managed to get 20-odd passengers right st the beginning

Nothing special today. Had a slow painful journey to Walthamstow on a 69 - What on earth has happened at Stratford? I used the new two way layout several times after it changed but now its just gridlock! see lots of turns on the 241 (Really seems to be affecting this route)
When I got to Leyton garage I spotted a 20 so quickly changed buses to grab a last ride on GAL bus. Boarded a unrefurbished WVN (Assume the only First interior ones are the route 357 batch). Was a quick run for a change along Hoe Street! Also spotted WVL 111 on the 20 with a side blind as the main front blind (Probably been like this since the bus moved to NP)
Was very strange seeing Arriva in Stratford on the 158
