went on the 424 today, I've been on this route before but only from Putney Bridge to Putney station so was good to do the bit not served by other routes, went from Putney Bridge to Fulham Broadway an interesting route going around the houses of Fulham.

For what I am planning, I totally respect that you like RATP and Abellio best. I also understand all of you who have your individual favourite bus company. It's just that I'm working out itineraries such that all my buses for my City & Archway day out are either Metroline or Go-Ahead.

Usually finishing 2/3am.

Either £4.50 for the ride, or a 20 min walk, the latter not very fun in just a t-shirt at 320am...

Night journey home after a Saturday night out for a mate's birthday in Central: N63, Farringdon > E&C; EH63 - business as usual (BAU) crossing Blackfriars bridge N171, E&C > Holborn; EH182 - handful of bus stop overshoots and missing completely; green light all the way from E&C, around St George's Circus and up to Waterloo station... for a change! N25, Holborn > Aldgate East; MV38249 - had to run to Red Lion for this and made it (just). Very slow all the way, nearly missing the connection at the other end, but can't complain as it was pretty much a Streetdeck at normal speed.... N205, Aldgate East > Leyton Downsell Rd; 12313 - a fair bit of whooshing, but not nearly as much as the 64 reg ones at BW. Speedy down the A11 and around Stratford City! 158, Leyton Downsell > Leyton Library; DW500 - really short hop in order to make it by 15 seconds for the next one..... must get this DW again, better than the DW4**s on the route N26, Leyton Library > Walthamstow The Bell; 2511 - great speed through Midland Road and up Hoe Street! Reeked of cigarettes however on top deck.... I suppose that's the aftermath of picking up Shoreditch clubbers on a Saturday night hah 123, Walthamstow Bell Corner > Sth Woodford / A406; HV384 - shooting up Forest Road, BAU at night for the route N55, Sth Woodford / A406 > Woodford Castle; LT358 - only person left on the bus for this whole stretch. Pushed the LT to the limit on Woodford New Road, great ride. Total journey time from Farringdon to Woodford: pretty much 2hrs on the dot. All connections maximum 2 mins, aside from catching the 158 and 123, which were closer 7-8 mins. I suspect my next journey will be daytime on Wed 27 Aug, so any suggestions are welcome, and will happily take into consideration if I'm yet to cover that ground!

Did the 139, 260, 148 and N550 end to end today
139 (baker street to Golders green); had done Waterloo to lords previously so did the rest (and a bit more). Very quick journey and the driver wasn’t waiting around - managed to overtake the 139 in front. Took about 25 minutes (this was post 11pm) 260 (Golders green to White city): another quick journey taking just over 45 minutes. These routes are so much better to do at night .... 148 (shepherds bush to camberwell green): the 260 dumped us ag shepherds bush; was walking to the McDonald’s when a 148 came by so hopped in. Think the driver was having arguments with a number of people (some not paying, some getting up towards the end for a couple of stops only which our driver didn’t like at all...) 12 (camberwell green to elephant and castle): regretted going to the top deck; some drunk lady had spewed the contents of her burger (with all the sauces) on the front left seat. Good luck with the cleaning .... N171 (elephant and castle to aldwych) Walked to Trafalgar square and had a late dinner as I had a 2 min wait for the next bus N550 (trafalgar square to canning town): fell asleep midway and woke up near east India. Didn’t realise how sleepy I was ....
Then went home through N15 and N277

The only good thing about it is you’ll never have to do it again , I attempted to do the 260 end to end during the day and got so fed up with it I bailed at Willesden Bus Garage. It’s just so slow and uninspiring, not even that the driver was doardling it was just a slow route lol.

I struggled to stay awake .... not that the routes are very scenic! Nothing beats the 2 hours 20 min on a 25 from Oxford circus to Ilford though

Went from Hammersmith to Willesden Green

Doing any route in the middle of the day is just unbearable. I’ve been lulled into a false sense of security thinking that during the day there’ll be little traffic so the route will be nice a quick, not. I did the 24 in the middle of the day, and it took 103 minutes, unbelievable

I’ve been lulled into a false sense of security thinking that during the day there’ll be little traffic so the route will be nice a quick, not. I did the 24 in the middle of the day, and it took 103 minutes, unbelievable Any zone 1 route really. Even an end to end on the 207 isn’t that bad during the day, it stops a lot obviously but it moves okay. I’ve done plenty of end to ends in the middle of the day with no issues at all: 41, 66, 85, 178, 210, 227, 329, 401, 472, 473, A10, C3, D8 and H17 just to name a few all without incident or hold ups at all. Central London routes like the 6, 9, 11, 14, 15, 24, 176 etc don’t even bother at any time during the day. The only realistic time one can bear doing those are at like the first journeys out at 5 in the morning. I have to say though, I did the 17 END TO END at 5:41pm last Wednesday afternoon from London Bridge up to Archway (one would probably immediately assume I’m absolutely bonkers even trying to attempt that) and I did it purely just to see how long I could stick it out for. But unbelievably it flowed remarkably well EVEN in the central core and the bus didn’t get held up once. City Thameslink and the Clerkenwell areas were remarkably empty and the bus zoomed through the lot of it, I absolutely couldn’t believe it😱 I got off the 17 at Archway at 18:31, with a journey time of just 50 minutes, I timed it. I can only assume it’s because Londoners now know how much of a war zone central London has become so they purposefully avoid it. So much so everyone’s doing the same and the traffic’s clearing out. I have definitely noticed significantly better levels of congestion (ie less of it) in Central London than what you would have had a couple of years ago with all the road works blocking everywhere up, I’m glad it slowly going in the right direction now.

I think the 9 is fine to do during the day it's quite a short route anyway obviously journey time has now increased since the rerouting. I agree with all the others especially the 11 which is just awful at any time. If only Tfl stuck to their guns and split the route up. That was one of the only good ideas to come out of the central london consultation. My opinion of course.
