Went to Caterham to try out the 407 route was. E162 on the 337 to Putney Station DOE9 on the 93 to Wimbledon Station DOE19 on the 164 to St Nicholas Centre 2580 on the 407 to Caterham Walked from Caterham to Caterham on the Hill tesco T62 on the to 466 to East Croydon bus station WVL338 on the X26 to New Malden the fountain DE20134 on the 265 to Rosslyn Park rugby football club 33 back home. Nothing that interesting to add really, There was two lads being complete T*ats on the 466 spraying loads of deodorant on the seats and then getting lighters out luckily even they weren't stupid enough to comprehend putting the lighter on the seat. Also on the X26 the driver got flagged down by a policemen as there was an accident on Fiveways meaning that we had U-turn in the middle of the road. Must have been a very long walk from Caterham Station to Caterham-on-the-Hill Tesco! You're certainly right there, took me about 25 minutes but it was a nice day and wanted to try another bus route and that seemed like the nearest one apart from the Surrey routes.

If you don't mind me asking what happend with the 486? - first, my 132 from NOG took 55 min to get to bexleyheath (the 0000 departure) instead of the timetabled 38 min - I had taken a rather thin jacket and it was very cold (below 10 degrees). Wrong decision - the 486 to NOG was scheduled for 01:00. Kept waiting (along with a few others) but no sign. It finally trundled in after 01:15 for no reason whatsoever - and literally a minute before an N89 which I was contemplating taking instead. Those 20 min were very painful - the bus was slow and kept dawdling. Cue, somewhere near charlton there was a call from the controller asking tye driver why so late. Couldn’t hear but subsequently the bus was turned at Charlton - Just missed an N53 so another 15 min wait in the cold before the next 486 came a min before the next N53

For complex reasons which would take forever to explain, I was only working for half of today.
207 to Shepherd's Bush (2522)
94 to Oxford Circus (VH45191) - Pretty amusing that months after I was last on this bus, the same ibus fault is yet to be fixed (I only realised when I heard the broken annoucements)
Walk to work close to Holborn
390 to Victoria (LT113) 2 to Stockwell (HV301)
*Before anyone tries to tell me I should have gotten the 88 from Oxford Circus to Stockwell, or gotten the 24 from TCR to Victoria, I wanted to go and have a look at Victoria Bus Station, and I refuse to use the 24 because its horribly slow.
50 to Croydon Flyover (HV135) - Enjoyable enough. I found the residental section a bit dreary, and Thornton Heath isn't exactly the nicest area in London. The route is still decent though, I enjoyed the Stockwell-Norbury section the most, and the bits in Croydon were interesting. I don't like the HVs, too much vibration, and rattle. However, I don't want to seem like I'm giving on overwhelmingly negative impression of the 50, it comes middle of my ranking of the Croydon-Streatham routes, being inferior to the 109 but still vastly superior to the dire 250. - 6.5/10
I also notice that the building which used to span St George's Walk has been demolished, this makes a huge change from the road I was scared in when walking down once. The road feels so much nicer, and more open now the building has come down.
Walk back to Fairfield Halls
75 to Lewisham Station (11318) - The better of the two routes I completed. I really enjoyed some of the scenery on this route. Some of the residential streets are quite pleasant actually, you get a great view of Selhurst Depot, and Rushey Green is always an interesting bus corridor. Sorry to anyone who lives in Thornton Heath, but its an area I find very boring, and it was one of the worst parts of the 75. The residential section of the route between Penge and Catford does drag on a little though, and this gets a bit tedious after a while, but still enjoyable. - 7.5/10
21 to Old Kent Road (LT293) - Annoyed that I missed the 47 so had to settle for an LT, but the 21 is more useful to go west from Lewisham than the 47
53 to Elephant and Castle (1230) - First time on the 53 since the cutback. Its sad, the route just doesn't feel the same anymore. I still think its an excellent route, and I love the MMCs on the route, but its not what is was. The loadings weren't as good as I anticipated, my guess is due to the cutback. The schedule felt overly padded out too, as we got regulated, and the driver went slowly to make up the run time.
172 to Lancaster Place (EH173) - Another example of a route which I've been on for the first time since it was cutback, however in the 172's case, its a cutback I supported. I was hoping for a 176, but I just did my usual stand at the Elephant (between St George's Road and London Road) and wait for a favourable route to come.
91 to Traflgar Square (ST812) - Huge mistake. I think I just jumped on this because it saw it was the ST. It was pathetically slow, and I should know better than to use buses down the Strand (especially westbound) by now. Still, it did provide a good bit of respite for my weary feet.
Walk to Charles II Street
94 to Shepherd's Bush (ADH45027) - I'm using this route as much as I can as I'm worried it will be cutback soon, I'm savouring each journey as if its my last. Generally, I used to vary the routes I would get home, and I still do, but at the moment my usage of the 94 has hugely increased, so I can use it whilst its still useful. Brilliant ADH too.
237 to Brentford (VW1257) - Regret using this route, it felt like it took an age, and I didn't enjoy being packed on a VW like a sardine, I arrived at the back of a queue for a bus so had to make do with standing on the lower deck. It did make a nice change from the 207/607 though.
65 Home (SP40067) - Don't let me start ranting about how much I love this route or you'll be here until Christmas reading my post!

The 50 & 75 were quite nice to do back in the days as you'd have L's, DLA's & DW's on the 50 with Euro II & III Tridents on the 75.

The 50 first as I find it the quicker of the three to use, then the 250 for Green Lane and then the 109 at the bottom because it's just full of traffic and some of the passengers aren't the nicest of people - you get similar on the 250 but not as bad.

Returned to London for a short period of time, with the aim of catching: 34 with ML, 48 before axe, 102 with old Ts, 212/444 with TT and 266 with ML. Well, here's how today's attempt went:
275, Woodford > Highams Park; 12150 - speedy throughout the journey, great catch on the route, equipped with old blinds (for any who despise the new font....!) 212, Highams Park > Chingford; VH38113 - across the level crossing, and straight onto this. Shame it wasn't a Gen1 Gemini, but haven't caught a Gen2 on the route yet. One tick on the list. Speedy up Friday Hill 444, Chingford > Turnpike Lane; WSH62998 - caught a 10-reg WSH on the RV1, so was good to test out a LJ13 one. Didn't disappoint on the A406 at all, great around Chingford Mount, comfortable ride. Shame these'll supposedly disappear. Great to have finally done the route end-to-end too! Another tick. 144, Turnpike Lane > Muswell Hill; DW476 - was hoping for a more common LJ59 DW, but this had great thrash through Hornsey, and up Muswell Hill. 102, Muswell Hill > Brent Cross; T3 - not nearly as much thrash or "end-of-life" sounds as I'd have expected with this 11 year old (Trident?) Enviro, but great ride. Was on it from around 1505 to 1600, so nearly a whole hour at peak school hour. Even with this in mind, good ride. Was also my first time doing the Brent Cross bridges and fast sections on a bus in maybe 10 years. 266, Brent Cross > Willesden Green; TEH1461 - speedy through to Edgware Road, and pretty much all the way. Great engine, and a slight noticeable difference with the LX61 I caught earlier. Tube, Willesden Green > Moorgate; then met pals for dinner and walked down to London Bridge 48, London Bridge > Liverpool St; LT318 - by this time it was nearish 11pm, and we got diverted via Aldgate! Bonus! This is near certainly my last ride on the 48 across Ldn Bridge and any further south than Shoreditch as I might try catch it alongside the 67 with AL when I next get the chance in a couple weeks. For now, this'll do as a send off. Short but sweet. Tube home.
Quite happy with almost all the list ticked off, bar the 34 and a proper journey on the 48. Till next time!
