Single figures for my trip, which was about 0100 ex Hammersmith and same by looks of things on buses towards Hammersmith. Before anyone says withdraw it, the N5 which left T Sq at just after 0300 had same number of passengers as the N33 !

Interesting day on the 5 today. Roads seemed rammed everywhere especially Barking as per normal!! I boarded a bus at Romford and the ticket machine was out of order so got waved on, the bus had no lights on and driver was clearly in a rush, we hardly picked anyone up in Romford, when we departed Queens Hospital he decided he wasn't going to wait at the red signal on the bus lane so suddenly pulled a sharp left and turned right from the car lane onto Rom Valley Way. I decided to get off to at Rush Green road to pop to a shop big mistake there was a 10 - 12 minute wait for the next bus and it was rammed! 2 seats on the top deck free. There was a 5 behind which I wish I waited for, this bus never over took once all the way to Canning Town and my bus got rammed non stop taking 90 mins.
Was my first ride on a unfurnished E400 and wow these buses are bleak and dull especially at night. Was such a contrast when I boarded a Smart E400 on the 241.

Today was planned to include Kensington, but I would describe it as Battersea & Harlesden.
I caught an overnight coach to Victoria, went home on my final ever Virgin Train from Euston, and had this as my itin:
170 Battersea Bridge - Go-Ahead SE199 319 Sloane Square - Arriva HV18 452 Battersea Park - Tower Transit VN36105 44 Latchmere - Go-Ahead WSD12 345 South Kensington - Abellio 9434 70 Ladbroke Grove - RATP BE37019 23 Westbourne Park - Tower Transit DNH39122
Hammersmith & City Line Shepherd's Bush Market - S7 stock
220 Harlesden - RATP 40452 206 Brondesbury Park - Metroline DEL1972
London Overground Shepherd's Bush - class 378
207 Askew Road - Abellio 2003 272 White City - RATP DME30381

SE187 on the 493 to Medfield street
VH45172 on the 85 to Kingston, Ibus screen was only showing Putney Bridge Gonville street, the whole way, stops was being announced correctly. Very well used as always serves a great purpose this route. Hope RATP retain it as they run it well but there will be competition from Go Ahead and Abellio.
DLE30064 on the 411 to West Molesley central square. This route was packed to standing room only and needs double deckers. I bet if I was in Picadilly circus today I would have gone past 3 38s that wouldn't have nearly as many people on board š.This is the first time I've used the 411 but I always see them Kingston full. Route it's self is ok but that's all can say really. Did have a nice community feel to it though as it seemed like a lot of people on the service knew each other.
Walk from from West Molesley to Hampton court took about half an hour.
SP40172 on the 111 from Hampton back to Kingston, not much to say apart from the bus was boiling hot was like being on an LT š. Sitting on the top deck offers a nice view over the wall into bushy park. Was surprisingly quiet but presumably that's because I was heading back into Kingston fairly late on sunday so past shopping hours.

Looking ahead a bit, but I have committed to a London visit for next July. The date in question I associated with east London from 1981 & 1992 but with west London from 1998 & 2015. West London is clearly the winner for July, as I have just booked a flight home from Heathrow!

A worthy catch? Similarly, the E400MMC on the 207?

Tje DME was comfortable enough but not as delightfully spacious as a DLE.Ā A bit obvious I know.Ā The smart Hybrid on route 207 had a niftyness that I hadn't spotted in an earlier Abellio E400-MMC. Yes I thought that after doing the 272 and 440 on Wednesday. I didnāt think 40cm would make any difference at all, propped up by the thought that they still have the same amount of seats as a DLE. But it definitely felt more cramped which I was really surprised by. My favourite seat on an MMC is on the right hand side (facing towards the front) directly behind the wheelchair space, and on a DLE I remember next two rows of seats after the wheelchair space being much further away than what it was on the DME. I was constantly left thinking to myself where the space had been taken away and I just couldnāt work it out. It was certainly a squeeze getting the DME through the 272 when I did it, particularly where the very low bridge is preventing it running with DDs (not that it really needs them). God knows how a DLE copes which do run the route fairly often.

I remember the first time I got a DME on the 391 it did feel strangely disorienting, particularly as by that point I had become accustomed to RATP DLEs on the route so the DME threw me off a bit. The space just in front of the rear doors on the near side does make DLEs feel very spacious in a way the DMEs never will.

Piccadilly Line to Hounslow East
203 to Staines (SP40178) 8/10 - Pretty good route. Some great scenery, especially when the route hugs the South Perimeter, with great views of aeroplanes. There are also some nice views around Stanwell, and just after Hatton Cross too. Glad I did this route on a decker as you can't appreciate its scenery properly on a single decker. It was absoloutely packed, definitely felt there is a case for a DD conversion. The residential streets do let the side down a little, but they aren't the worse I've ever seen, not on the level of dire residential streets as a route like the 99.
Doubled back to Ashford Hospital on the same bus.
116 to Hounslow Bus Station (VH45138) 9/10 - Far from the best, but a great short route to do. It has a nice mix of things, a really good dual carrigeway thrash at the start to get things going, followed by some pleasant scenery. For instance, Bedfont Green is charming, as is the section around Hounslow Heath which really feels akin to the countryside, fantastic stuff. Once again, residential streets do let the side down a little, but the architecture is decent. Its not a case of boring uniform houses which can get incredibly dry, but it featured sufficient variation to keep me interested. The short nature of the route is something that made it quite enjoyable, it didn't drag at all, and it seemed a blink of the eye and we were in Hounslow.
235 to New Road (DEL2250 and 2261) - Had an awful sounding DEL from Hounslow up to Brentford, so bad, I had to record it, video coming later. It was subbed at Brent Lea for a healthier sounding DEL though.
65 Home (VH45311) - This bus was packed and standing, really overcrowded, with people standing on the stairs.

I think there was a driver changeover top but I wasn't paying much attention. Maybe I'm being a fool but for DEL2261 to get to Brent Lea from AH and face in the direction it was facing it, wouldn't it have had to go a long way in the wrong direction to turn around?
