One further question re the bus stop number on the ETM - does the ETM "beep" as the bus stop number changes? I ask because I was sat behind the cab of a W11 the other day and noticed for the first time a "beep" as we got close to each stop on the route. Is the "beep" mutable by the driver as I have not heard it before? I imagine it might drive you insane if you heard it hundreds of times a day. Fairly certain that would have been the audible warning for a low ticket roll

I ask because the W11 is part Hail and Ride and there were no beeps on that section but they resumed on a section with stops. I can see the logic of the ETM beeping about low roll before a stop.

It certainly does beep before every stop. It's not as intrusive as you might imagine and it's certainly better than it was before when there used to be a beep whenever the ETM was used. So that was a beep after every pass had been scanned on the Oyster reader, a beep every time the driver registered a printed pass, a beep every time a ticket was issued and that WAS intrusive!

Does it say "you are now entering the City of London" in a very posh voice or "you are now entering Bow" in a Cockney accent?
