Travelled on WVL 186 on the 22 yesterday afternoon and it was freezing!!! No heating and that was with all windows closed.
The driver was clearly cold - he was dressed up like it was the middle of winter and made an apology/announcement to all the passengers telling us all that the heating wasn't working on the bus, it's freezing and please could we close all open windows! And that the bus was unfit for service and he was going to take it back to the garage when we got to Putney!

12138 and 9448 were the worst for no heating, freezing on those buses. Really have no idea why heating doesn't seem to work a lot of the time on E400's, again ADE's continue to be like that despite having almost no problems last year However, DN33655 did have heating on ever so slightly while visitor 15495 was the best of the day, nice and warm on there.

I remember travelling on WVL288 last year on the hottest day of the year, it had the heater on at full blast! Currently on DW133 that doesn't have the heater on, it's freezing! That's quite weird actually, considering those buses have probably the best air con you can find on a bus. I'm sure I'm not the only one, but I've never been on a Gemini 1 with heating turned on. It's warmest downstair by the engine, but upstairs is always freezing! Reason being, the Gemini 1 would have had the passenger saloon heating switched off. Like how upon refurbishment TfL were requiring all buses with upper deck heating to be switched off permanently. Grossly unfair imo. They did not even say for operators that they must retrofit some type of thermostatic control. And all the heating controlled from a switch in the drivers cab for the passenger saloon was to be removed. They can waste money on GPS speed limiting, but when it comes to creature comforts they don't give a d*mn. The Gemini 1's has a blower motor at the upper saloon under the rear seat. It would have then blown air to the floor level grills. This would then also distribute itself at the holes in the ceiling downstairs by the windows as on the Gemini 2's. It is a great shame that on the majority of London Gemini 1's with all operators the blower motors for the passenger saloon is being made useless and just accumulating dust!
