Just wondering what everyone think of this, it's something that I have pondered of late. Since being able to see the working timetable schedules, it seems that on some routes the timings aren't done to how long a route would take, but more to the driver's schedule. Two big examples I can think of are the 53 and 122 routes, where it seems some timings are done just to fit two rounders into a 5.5 hour driving spell. The timetable on the 122 seems particularly dodgy, as I have been on the 1743 trip from PD quite a few times where it has run 20-30+ by the time it gets to CPAL (if it gets that far - been tipped off at Forest Hill before with another 122 a mere 28 mins behind - bailed onto the London Overground in that situation ) At the first part of the school holidays I got the same 122 journey, there was LOADS less traffic on the road - even the main pinch point between the A2 junction and Yorkshire Grey (Haimo Road and Green Way bus stops) was clear - but the bus still ran late (despite the driver not hanging about). It made me think the timetable needs to be altered quite a bit! Just wondering if anyone else has thought this, or if there's anything in the theory........

All Uxbridge bound N207's from Holborn and most trips towards Holborn after 0300. Makes for a nice race

Always fun to strategise which one to board - it often works out quicker to let the first one go, especially if it has come from Uxbridge, which means it'll have more alighters/stop calls en route. As part of the new performance monitoring regime which came into effect earlier this month, many night routes will be slowed down in order to improve reliability. More running time and extra buses on the road. I expect that the N87 at least, which suffers from high levels of vomit lost mileage (far higher than the next route, the N29) will become more reliable as a result.

That doesn't spell good news. I love driving N207's. It was much better under First - Metroline have improved the service for sure, but with First we throttled it from start to finish (Better for us drivers/Bad for the passengers) loooool

Buses that leave Catford Bus Garage before about 06:30 on a weekeday morning have to race along because if you are a minute or two late going through Brockley you won't make that time up! It is so annoying being a minute or two early and you get told to wait because your leader is a slow coach or not a regular driver who doesn't race along. The 36 and 436 are ok IMO with early morning running time. I can't really remember the 21 as I haven't driven an early duty for quite some time. The 108 and 129 all depend on traffic and if you get stuck at traffic lights. I can't comment of the 225 as I have never driven that route despite route learning it almost a year ago!

The 118's & 154's on early morning Sundays (around 6-8am) were tightly timed giving passengers a very quick ride.
