Seems that London is suffering from a plague of cars rolling on their roofs or sides. On Monday a car flipped on its roof in Brixton while trying to avoid hitting a cyclist and pedestrian. This morning a big smash with a car on its side at Manor House. This evening a car decided to try to use the subway at Elephant and Castle. Tweet and piccieI've never known so many incidents with cars flipping over in such a short space of time.

This always happens around the Summer Holidays with the school closed and the extremely hot weather. Even when its the school's half term as well. What you get is Sunday Drivers now driving on all days of the week, pedestrians no longer looking when crossing the road and worst of all there are too many passengers to pick up Sunday night (Monday morning) around 1am, my lower deck of the 157 was completely filled with passengers between Wallington, Carshalton and Rose Hill. I can't remember that even happening on that time of the night apart from New Years Eve. And on Monday, myself on the 455 and a 289 both got trapped in Purley Way shopping Centre because an Lorry couldn't get past the badly parked cars I was stucked there for near 30 minutes But thankfully, there's no cars flipping over in Croydon recently but after 'googling' it, I found that there was a car on its backside in Coulsdon just two weeks ago

I find it helps if people aren't texting when they are driving. Driving a lorry I've got a good vantage point into a lot of cars and the number of drivers I see with the phone in one hand and then gear stick in the other is unreal.
That short couple of seconds of taking the eyes of the road is all it takes for nothing to become something on the road. I'd heard there are plans to increase the penalty from 3 to 6 points. It will only work if it's enforced.

Same with cyclists, some of these bikes are worth a few bob, just crush a few, lots of publicity, then see them behave. Had an incident in Kingston this morning, crossing shows green then we hear "Get out the f**ing way!" I managed to kick his lycra mans back wheel but unfortunately he stayed on and disappeared.

Lots of people to not own the cars they drive ... crushing cars of leasing co/ rental co/ 3rd parties would be a criminal act.

I take your point, but anyone being hit by a car some people me included would say its as bad as a gun. We are far to lenient in this country on 'car crime' when you watch some of the police chase programmes from the USA, they treat it far more seriously. One programme recently the crime was 'federal pursuit' he crossed a state line, the culprit got 10 years! God forbid it should happen, but the powers that be will only take it seriously when one of their own is mowed down and killed. And cyclists-think of the kinetic energy if a 10 stone man riding at 20MPH hits you

Similar thing happened to me a while back. Was waiting at the crossing in Whitechapel, and a bus began slowing down. Looked up and saw the lights were changing. Despite the bus already slowing down, I decided to wait till the green man displayed. By the time it did, the bus had stopped and I started crossing. Meanwhile, a cyclist decided he couldn't be bothered to stop. He went round the bus and very nearly smashed in to me at a decent speed. If I'd started crossing a second earlier, hed have smashed in to me.

Well the sympathy card was out this week for the cyclist who was hit by a bus at Whitechapel (it was in the news report about the collision detection systems installed on vehicles on the 25 & 73) but no mention of the fact he was riding the wrong way down a one way street which resulted in his death.

I don't know if it's the cynic in me(well yes it is) but I notice that whenever a cyclist is involved in an accident, the report always seems to be slanted one way? I haven't seen the report that Vjaska refers to regarding the cyclists disregard of the RTA, but I wonder how the media reported it?

Do you have more info about that? I live in Tower Hamlets but I haven't heard about that.
