I don't watch Doctor Who. Never liked it. Is it really that popular though? I went to Odeon yesterday and the first episode is being shown in Cinemas. The show is very popular within the sci-fi population, up there with the various Star Trek franchises. In that respect however Dr who has the slightly higher edge as they still make the show (or rather it made a comeback after 16 years) whereas TV Star Trek was cancelled in 2005 with the disappointing Enterprise, axed after four seasons instead of the intended seven. I do think however that they tend to big up Doctor Who a bit too much, such as having that one off show dedicated in announcing Peter Capaldi as the new Doctor Who... when it could simply have been announced as part of general News. This was one of the reason Christopher Ecclestone quit after one season, what with all the 'Hollywood's style' limelight that comes with it....him being more of a private man in comparison to successors David Tennant and Matt Smith.

In the trailer for next week's Doctor Who it shows central London turned into a forest with bits of the town still visible, including what looks like a PVL in the background. By deliberate coincidence the bus has an offside advert of Doctor Who.
